Yeah the options are awesome. I do have all of them except my loop is a simple loop with no send or return, but I run W/D and actually bought the Mark L Line Mixer to use, which will be here soon so I will hook up the W/D/W in the near future. I do not even use the clean channel much as I do the same as you do, but wanted to have just in case. The Sat/diode clipping is not really needed as the 4th gain stage is where this amp is at along with the other options such as the feel, mid-shift, depth, etc. The feel, mid shift and depth are a must as they allow many tonal options. The Glass option is pretty much the opposite of the Depth and it adds more hair and aggression. I usually keep it half-way as I do the Feel.

HUH, maybe i don't the glass option then, cause with that 5th gain stage engaged, this rock monster is just brutal. I agree, the 4th stage is where its at tonally. Ya, i was reading about that Mark L. Shoot me a few lines once you get it all rigged. Curious as to what you think. By the way, Love your Avatar, thought i'd show you whats hanging above me in the studio at 48"

So you have the Rockmonster mod and not the KK++? I will let you know what I think about the Mark L.

YO! Yes, i have the rock monster mod. It allows me to go from clean to scream ("dans words") LOL. I'm not saying the KK cannot, however the 5th gain stage really does allow me to play some old/new heavy stuff. What i mean by that is it really affords you a thick, compressed, tight feel, or maybe I'm not choosing the right words, Prolly Mooncobra could explain better than I. But their certainly isn't the need to boost with a pedal if I'm playing high gain (newer Metal) or the likes. Especially using the mid switch in the scooped position. Its a great amp for a variety of tones. Just as the kk is i'm sure, though i have never played one, but the reviews of the kk speak for themselves. But going back to our previous post, YES! the 4th gain stage is the shizzle mi nizzle! Its just oozes tone and the clarity is just sick. so defined. Not matter what setting i have the added options on, the 4th stage just highlights all! Its rules my other amps for that 80's metal tone. i thought the 4th stage was great for 80's thrash as well, but holy $%*^, on 5th stage, and rolling back the gain..... :inlove: :inlove: :inlove: In fact, i think i had to change my shorts!

As far as clean goes, ya, i was fighting the notion on trying to fork out the extra $$$ on the clean channel while Dan was modding the amp, however the drop gain stage mod works perfect. I can drop to 4th, roll back the volume and depending on the pups, i can get a really nice clean. I then decided to dig deep in my old racks and got my old Rocktron Pro-Q, and my old alesis 100w amp out. They haven't seen the light of day in years. So for the clean in the w/d/w, i run through those 2 and it was just perfect. That Pro-Q just woke up the clean brilliantly. I forgot how good that old Rocktron stuff was/is! Pro-Q rocks. I just a/b amps through voodoo lab pro/gcx. HA, its got me so excited, i may have to dig out my old Digitech gsp-7! :)
Ya, been missing the old rack stuff, got tons of it, except the Roland gp-8, i still use that to this day, and the gp-16 as well. Been in my rack ever since. The Space-D preset is fantastic on the 16. MAN, Think I'll go rack digging tomorrow. :)

The KK++ has a 3rd and 4th gain stage and the amount of gain is the same as the Rockmonster according to Dan except it is more open/less compressed. I use the Roland SDE 3000 for delay with this and pretty much that is it.

I'm probably gonna kick myself for even considering this, but I may have to let my beloved KK++ go if anyone's interested. It has the everything including the clean channel. Depth control, Glass, dual gains, sensitivity control, 3 way mid shift. I just bought an all original 12000 Series 68' super lead, and if a few things don't move soon that I have up on reverb, I'm going to be royally in the shithouse with the wife. Talk about a sick feeling thinking about letting it go. These are THE Swiss Army knive of amps

UUUGGHHH! You are killing me! I let my SDE 3000 go years back, and have been regretting it ever since . What great stuff roland had back then. I ended up with a 2290 after i sold it, and ya, the 2290 is boss, however, to me the 3000 was more dark and warmer. (which i like better) I will grab another one some day. Ever have the heating issues with yours?

No heating issues with mine. I actually have 3 of them and they all seem to work good.

Then again, I might consider a Intelliverb. I tried the pcm70, & 80, but couldn't stand the lag or delay with midi switching. I have a Roland dc30, and its a cool little unit. Noisy as heck though. I dunno what i'll try next, Suggestions,LOL?

I had a DG modded JCM800 back when I was in blighty, its sooooo good!

Ya, have a buddy of mine that picked up a jcm800 that Dan had done a Jose mod on. Just sick, sick tone.

Dan is going to mod a JVM for me. Can't wait! I was going to go with the Killer Kali, but the amp itself is a little out of my price range right now. He said his JVM mod is killer and can get close to his other mods, plus I like having a clean channel.

NICE! you'll love dealing with him. Everything he touches turns to gold! Ya, thats why Dan has my JMP now, Getting a clean channel added, and other goodies. Dan is Da MAN!

What does Dan do to the JVM?? I have a JVM 205 that I barely use as it is quite harsh. Always wanted a whitesnake style tone from a Marshall. I think I spoke to Dan before about modding an amp but I don't think he or I got back to each other by email. I expect he is pretty damn busy as he has a great Amp Rep!!

He does a ton to it to make it better than the stock version. He said it's a night and day difference, and one of the things he fixes is the harshness.
