Yup in my day we had "poser" trash and Metal. At the rehersal facility we practiced at the metalheads and the poser/hair/glam band guys wouldn't even speek to each other. We took that shit serious. Those were the good old days

That is pretty much the difference between scene bands (Suicide Silence) and death metal.

I guess I don't get the sub-genre lable thing. Grindcore,deathcore,deathmetal. SS doesn't really sound "grindcore" to me it sounds like deathmetal to me. I don't have to label music, if I like it I listen,if I dont, I dont. I agree that most bands labeled "grindcore" such as Nasum,Pig Desroyer, etc I do not really care for. WTF is scene faggotry anyhow?
And isn't this thread about the new Metallica album?
I still like "All Nightmare long" even pre-fatty.

Also yes Nasum, and Pig Destroyer are grindcore. but that can be said about any genre (or thousands of sub-genres)...you got the dudes that like glam/hair metal and call it metal (albeit radio/commercial as fuk) but to them, it's metal...then you got the dudes that don't like it that say it's not "real" metal or it's "poser". it's easy to say sumthin's gay when you don't like it. i do like bring me the horizon...are they my fave?...no. am i a scenester?...far from it. remember, just cuz sumone doesn't know every little damn detail about a band, doesn't mean they don't like the tunes.
i know the "scenesters" you speak of. i was in san diego when the "deathcore" scene broke out and there were a 1000 job for a cover bands. but not every band has to push the envelope and be totally unique. some just like a kind of music and that's what they play. i mean really, if nobody followed any trends, we'd have like 5 bands ever. that's why they call it a genre. who cares what they call it? who cares who's "realer" than who? if ya dig it, dig it. if ya don't, act like you know everything about everything and talk down to everyone that digs it.

Why do I bother, just cuz. Metallica never really went anywhere who wants to hear every album sounding like master or ride, they just keep evolving and trying new things,except for the snare I really like st anger, and Im glad they didnt return to exactly the old days,they were done already, this album has a very fresh feel to it,old school meets new school metal. Lots of catchy riffs. It will be big.

For me either I love an album or not, got so much sitting on the shelf....
