My only point is what should be illegal and what shouldn't, not what currently legal or illegal acts do or do not emotionally hurt people.

Steve

I get what you are saying I just dont agree that laws cant be made to try and protect people from mental abuse. There are laws on the books now that deal with just that. Lastly I dont get that just because making something illegal doesnt ALWAYS stop the action doesnt mean it shouldnt be illegal. That really doesnt make much sense to me. Anyway we can drop it. I dont want you to be frustrated or angry in any way. We just dont agree which is fine and Im not angry at all just so you know.

I don't think you get what I'm saying. I'm saying that, for example, making drugs illegal does not EVER stop the action of emotionally hurting someone else. The reason someone emotionally hurts someone else has little to do with the drug itself being legal or illegal.

I think mental abuse laws are bullshit, however that isn't what we're discussing. Drugs are not illegal because people who become addicts emotionally hurt others. I honestly cannot figure out why they are illegal...

I'm not angry with you at all, just frustrated that I can't make you understand what I'm saying.

However, that is the great thing about America. We are free to disagree and not understand each other...

Hey Telephant, you're wrong on one thing. This Country WILL elect a minority individual. It will happen IMHO with Obama. But it wouldn't have happened if Bush wasn't one of the worst Presidents we have seen. After 8 years of this garbage i think the Country just wants a change and get a Democrat in there. I don't think the color of the skin is as important because of the backlash against the Republican party that the Bush office has created.

You cannot comprehend the points I am making to you. You do not want to have a conversation. You want to keep pushing forth your untrue rhetoric about what I said. It is impossible to have an intelligent conversation with you about this. For the last time:

When I say a crime is "victimless", I mean that no one else is being PHYSICALLY hurt or IN DANGER of being PHYSICALLY hurt. It is not illegal to hurt someone emotionally because you are a drug addict. Making drugs illegal does not change that. I am flabbergasted that you cannot see my point and that I CLEARLY understand that addicts and prostitutes emotionally hurt their families. Geez, I can hurt one of my co-workers feelings pretty badly by saying she looks like a fat pig in the dress she's wearing today. Guess I should go to jail if I say that huh...

Lets just leave this alone and stop now - you are not understanding the distinctions I am making in this conversation and continuing can only make this end badly... I'm extremely frustrated with trying to get my point across to you and have tried multiple ways and you keep coming back with the same shit over and over as if I haven't clearly explained myself. My only point is what should be illegal and what shouldn't, not what currently legal or illegal acts do or do not emotionally hurt people.

Steve

Obviously, you're not a golfer.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :hys:

Looks like we'll get to test this theory...

So we're all in agreement then? Cloudnine should be banished and sent back to HC with a full box of tampons and some Vagisil? :D

That's redundant isn't it?

Cloudnine is the type of Canadian that made it possible for bands like Loverboy to exist. Come to think of it, he's about the right age. Maybe he was fathered by a member of Loverboy?

I agree and I've never indicated otherwise. :)

You know Steve, come to think of it....... there was a Republican in the White House when you were wearing the pants in your avatar picture. They can't all be that fanatical or they would have morally regulated the way we all dressed. That might have been a good thing huh? ;)

You make a good case. Regulating spandex pants is not a moral issue however. Legislation would have prevented 80s metalists from blinding many innocent people with their spandex trousers... Totally goes along with my legislation agenda...

That is legislation that I totally agree with.

Men wearing spandex while not appearing in a Richard Simmons workout video was not a victimless crime. I was guilty of it too.

I hope he takes it all the way and makes good on his promises.

I know/care very little about American politics... But Obama winning the democratic nomination virtually guarantees another republican president. I don't believe America will elect a black man as president. That's not an opinion on Obama, black people or America; I just don't think it's going to happen.

I hope you're right, because the world doesn't need another tool like that self-serving trigger-happy Texan village idiot. I don't know anything about that McCain guy, but if he's anything like his predecessor...

If Bush isn't the worst we've had he's near the bottom of the barrel. If you bring up the state of things when Carter was in office how was everything when Clinton was in office? Clinton may have lied about getting a blowjob but as far as I'm concerned Bush lied about the Weapons Of Mass Destruction that he claimed over and over that Irag had, where are they?

9/11 was going down and he was just sitting there in a class room with his thumb up his ass, not the reaction i wanted from him. Sending troops into Irag has been the most idiotic move this Country has made in a long long time. Osama isn't hiding in Irag and thousands of Americans have died so Irag can have a democracy. Fuck Irag, we should never have gone over there. Regardless of the final say i think that if Bush didn't want American troops in Iraq then they wouldn't be there.

I voted for Bush over Gore and considered myself a Republican until the last election when i voted for Kerry. As of now I'm voting for Obama unless McCain can win me over.

Anyone hear the quote from McCain how he doesn't understand economics? The guy's been in office almost 40 years, and now wants to run for Pres, and doesn't understand economics? That reason alone is why he's not getting my vote.

Very well put, and a blind liberal view. My view of God and Christianity has nothing to do with the liberal mindset. I am not going to debate this with you as I can see you have your minimalistic view of this already. Can you say socialism. And I think the Church and people of America should help others, just not let the Government regulate it, everything they touch goes to crap, Can you say Social Security.

Hows supporting others through state regulation a LIBERAL view?

Why is supporting thousands or millions of homeless people minimalistic exactly?

Please, "socialist"? Give me a break, are you a complete idiot? I said that those that cannot provide for themselves should be looked out for, especially in the case of someone with Autism, or Down Syndrome, or Paraplegia - the government should take the moral highground and do that. Becuase, lets face it, not a whole lot of other people would help.

Same goes for the homeless, many of them just need a chance to improve and start again, it's completely immoral to ignore them and lecture them on life choices. I'm sure if there were migating circumstances they regret them, no need to get morally superior to the less fortunate.

The reason your government regulations go to crap is because most of your policies are inefficent and generally just shit in every facet. This isn't to say that having government regulated healthcare, or social security is a bad idea, or impractical - it's not and works very well in dozens of other countries, just that your current models are terrible.

Moral of the story - Get a real government, one that can legislate properly and support those less fortunate - neither of which are BAD ideas.
