Distortion Pedal Recommendation

Suhr riot or the throttle box from mesa. The riot can do it all but if you want rectifier in a box the throttle box is the ticket as that's what it was designed to do.

I have both pedals yo mentioned. The Blue is really low gain flavoring and not a distortion pedal like the others.

The Red is quite feature packed and more refined. The Wreck is a monster in a box. I take my Dr Z clean amp pretty much, and the Triple Wreck for insane gain. It freaks people out. Literally.. You can be playing new country or clean on a tele thru the Z, and hit the Wreck and instant Rob Zombie Dragula.

Of course you can dial it back a little. It also has a boost that acts like a fuzz pedal. Not a lot of people demo that feature. It has a modern or vintage toggle, basically more buzz and a bit more cut. The bass mid and treble knobs a potent.

The triple wreck is the kind of dirt pedal I would never sell. It does what it does amazingly well. And you have the flexibility to have a Triple Rectifier at the click of a button. I watched the YT vids with skepticism. It really is that powerful though.

The Red is a great pedal, but it is not a rectifier. Since you mentioned that particularly.... No slight on Bogner quality or tone.

Bogner Red can get a nice heavy modern tone. Others that come to mind are the Über pedal, Wampler SLO or Triple Wreck, Damage Control stuff if you can find them (Demonizer is amazing!)

Bearfoot Dyna Red or Red Hot. Great with a Marshall platform in lower gain or clean. Really good sounding pedal.

Dyna RedHot Distortion
The Dyna RedHot takes your Dyna Red vintage Marshall stack sound and HotMod it with more presence, edge and roar and add a more versatile tone knob and the all important customshop sparkleflame paintjob. Whats unexpected is that the guitar volume knob interaction is amazing, really. It retains the proper balance all the way down, so you can easily pick your most distorted sound on the pedal controls and do the rest from your guitar

Metal Pedals Hardcore XXX- Check it out if you've never heard of these guys. Cool stuff.
AMT SS-11,SS-20, Bulava (One is higher gain than the others, not sure which is which)
Greenhouse FX No Brainer- If you can find one
Verellen Skyhammer Preamp- If you've got the cash
Randall RG13- Seems cool

I'm trying to work out what it is you want to achieve. Do you want a pedal to use on the clean channel to get a slightly broken up sound or are you wanting it to give a heavier distortion then the dirt channel has?

If its more gain you're after why not hit the dirty channel front end with a Koko boost?

He is trying to achieve (if Im correct) a more modern, darker, rectoish heavy tone that is not featuring the high mids, classic Marshall sound that he has setup as his main dirt. He wants a pedal to run on his clean channel to cop the modern tones of Foo Fighters, Seether etc. My choice is Triple Wreck, it will do exactly what you are after.

I misread the original post..I should not have suggested Bogner Blue pedal...I still say the Bogner Red is extremely versatile...but I also agree the Wampler Triple Wreck is great as suggested above and a good fit for what the OP wants.

Well put...that's exactly right. Boosting the BE or HBE channel doesn't get me where I want to be because as you noted, the voicing is still very "Marshall" and mid-strong. The full clean uses a blackface Fender circuit (subtle midrange) so I'm thinking that it will be a much better platform for the more modern tones.

FWIW, the Marsha can actually do those sounds on its own by using the "Modern" and "SAT" switches, but it's not practical to change amp settings during a gig, especially since the SAT function drops the volume by a significant amount.

Thanks everyone for all the recommendations...I'll be checking a few of them out

I was looking for a high gain pedal for similar reasons, though not necessarily thinking about "modern" tones or in a band setting, but more for recording/mixes. My Chupa and its crunch is obviously distinctly Marshall flavored as well, but boosting it for leads was just not giving me enough of a different flavor over that. Enter the Red pedal. Running into the Chupa on its Plexi setting (set very clean) gives me a different tone (mids emphasized elsewhere, etc) yet it's not so outta place to stand out oddly, just a great complimentary gainy tone to the Marshall fam.

Hope this is helpful and not just a Bogner Pedal pimp post, lol. Still futzing with the tune itself but pretty damn happy with the tones. No boosting now, lol, just raw Chupa for the rhythm, 100% Bogner Pedal for the leads...

Bogner Pedal Jam / Save

Anybody have any thoughts on Bogner Uber pedal? It doesn't seem to get anywhere near the love that the red and blue do.

Played a used one for sale at GC.

I owned a Twin Jet for a while that another forum member now has.

It is a pretty far miss. It seems like a 2D copy of a slice of an Uber. Don't get your hopes up on that one. And if you notice, I very rarely have bad things to say about gear. Lots of times it is about preference. But for an accurate recreation? Keep walking, nothing to see there.

My opinion... Wampler triple-wreck or Wampler SLO. Some other interesting pedals that I've run across that were fun to research were Toneczar Openhaus, Okko Dominator, Weehbo Morbid Drive, Pitbull III Hardwire Distortion. Any of these would be quite different from the Marsha I think.

I have yet to see a good review of the Wampler SLOstortion and the clips don't sound that great either. I would look past that one.

The Wampler Triple Wreck crushes.
Bogner Blue? Is that some kind of joke? Great pedal but there's not much gain there and certainly no heavy.
I was completely shocked the first time I plugged into the TW. I still find it hard to believe that pedal exists.

The triple wreck kicks ass. The closest to an amp from a pedal as I've ever experienced. Someone mention that it got muddy at higher volume. Not my experience at all.

I'll be borrowing a Triple Wreck from a forum brother soon...based on clips and feedback I'm guessing it's gonna do the trick. Looking forward to the test drive!

I like the pedal better in person. Agree that the clips don't do it justice as clips will tend to do a lot of the time. The Triple-Wreck does accomplish its intended mission better than the SLOstortion IMHO. Different flavours of heavy...

Just picked up a Joyo Ultimate Drive. Not bad at all for a cheap dirt box.
