The only orange product I've tried was the pedal baby. Wish I had one around the house. It was pretty sweet for a SS head.

I've had a TH30H and currently the RV50 MKIII. I've liked both of them a lot. I'm into fizzy, so Orange is really my happy place.

They make a million great amps. None of them are really awesome for blues tones except for the old school ones, though. They are almost invariably rock machines.

I've owned like half a dozen tiny, dark, rocker terrors, an OR30, a vintage or120, AD30, rockerverb, and a couple others. They are kind of like ENGL, they aren't made particularly well but they all sound great

I didn't get a fizzy vibe from any Orange amp demos or from the pedal baby. They all seemed pretty rich sounding but I guess other than the pedal baby I've never tried one for myself.

I dunno, what do you consider awesome for blues tones? I can make quite a few amps work out ok for it. I bought Twins cause a lot of blues dudes use them, and they are cheap.

Same buddy that’s telling me to get a PRS is an orange fanboy too.. he’s into traditional Heavy metal. What would you guys recommend for Metalcore? TH30, Rockerverb, anything else ? Great mutual friend of ours is an orange dealer so I feel bad not having one… willing to give it a go tho.

Wish I could be of assistance. When I think of an orange dealer all that comes to mind is Florida citrus groves.

Generally speaking? Fender style circuits, and the amps that are variations (dumble, mesa, rivera) and Vox style circuits and the amps that are variations (matchless, tophat, dr z, etc)

Anything else sounds like "blues rock" to me, tonally. Like it's just playing the blues with a rock tone. It isn't a blues tone in and of itself.

I think you could get a good blues tone out of an OR80 or OR120, but most other styles of amps just sound like rock to me, not blues.

Yeah the Fenders are kind of industry standard. Never really tried a dumble, mesa, or rivera. Well, I did have a friend with a rare 4x10 Mesa but man that thing had way too many controls to figure out. Pull this, pull that. I tried a triple rec once. It was nice but kind of overkill for my needs and I had a plexi at the time. I tried some Sampson era Matchless way back in the day. Nice, but EL84 doesn't really seem up my alley and they seem like they blow tubes all the time.

Matchless are actually famous for being 1000 times more reliable than the vox amps they are based of. That's their entire business model.

Mesa makes some great blues amps - a blue angel or lone star would be the top of my list if I needed those types of tones

As I wait for my HD600s to arrive you & smash now further influence me to get a Rockerverb… You two gentlemen are a BAD influence 😒
🤘🏽😏
Bad influences I need in my life.. :cheers2:

Dude the rockerverbs are killer. They are a little bit speaker picky but if you have the right cab they are easy to dial too. Basically any overdrive on earth is instant metalcore style tone.

I mean Jim Root love him or hate him had some nasty tones throughout the years… just came across this:

1:45 the cleans are outstanding too… sheeeeeesh 🤯 Dafaq.. tbh I’ve never given orange a chance.. but all the OG’s keep grinding me about it..

Speaker picky- The buddy I mentioned sold me a 1974 ppc412 I’m assuming that would do the trick? Or do you have better speaker suggestions? I can actually borrow a Rockerverb anytime just never thought to do so..

Use v30s or T75s with it. The ppc will be great.

It doesn't sound good with most greenback variations, and even less good with eminence or weber or something like that, unless its the DV77 or something that is actually tuned for that style of music.

Here is Pallbearer feeding back with swooshes between songs at the Grog Shop in Cleveland tonight.

They are all Orange and Matamp, and the bassist has the Verellen Meatsmoke that I didn't buy before Ben stopped making amps.

The Blue Angel looks kinda like a weird arrangement of tubes. Haven't looked at the Lone Star.

Have you ever tried any of the ceriatone dumble clones? The two rock and amplified nation stuff is kinda outta my league price-wise. Honestly would like a 30-50 watt 1x12 for a little easier toting at smaller club gigs. I dunno, no money, just kicking around future ideas for another time and place. TBH Chris Cain sounds pretty good with a 335 plugged into one of those music man RD50's and they are pretty cheap....

Yes I have played a couple of them. I played the 20 watt head, and a 100w HRM combo.

I'm not a big dumble fan tbh, so I wouldn't be the best person to ask, but they both sounded exactly like the two rock and AN amps i've tried. Dumbles have a very distinctive midrange honk that's unmistakable

Just based on demos I liked the SSS the most. Kind of a clean sustain that sounds good to my ears but who knows once I plug in. I gotta really good tech that will build me whatever I want for the cost of the kit plus about $500. I just don't have any idea of what that should be. Based on my finances I got plenty of time to think it over, LOL.
