The RI is out with raving reviews. The OG prices set to tank, I don't see it do you?
I absolutely see it, simply because the prices on "different revs" and some Mesas are already goofy and inflated due to rarity being a driving factor. I am saying this as someone who loves Mesa amps. If I could buy a new RI that I felt sounds just as good, with all new components, and a warranty at the same or even lesser price...sounds like a pretty good option.
THIS! The RI is incredible. Tight and growly. You're right on the money. I'm the target audience for a DR Reissue. I've owned so many different revisions as well as tremoverb, road kings, roadsters, triple recs, etc.. They're all in the same ballpark. Rev F's are up at 3500 used? I can get the RI for $3299 with warranty, maybe ask my Sweetwater Rep for a better discount. A lot of those old rectifiers are aging out to 30 years old, time to change filter caps, clean jacks, clean/lube pots, replace leaking sprague caps, etc.. I'll just buy a new one with the blackface and chrome chassis and full warranty.
I understand what you meant. Yes, I do see the prices falling.Everyone is missing what I was trying to say. Maybe I could have said it better in that after the RI I don't see the prices of any of the OG recs falling.
Where do you see it exactly, rev C,D,E,F,G duals/triples what bc I haven't seen it fall off.I understand what you meant. Yes, I do see the prices falling.
They will also go down. Vh140c prices go up.everyone thought iic+ prices were gonna come down too with the RI, and from what ive seen id guess they went up if anything. i doubht rectos change much
The difference though, is these Gibson/Mesa reissues are on par with the originals....and, in some cases even better. The midrange in both the C+ and Recto RI is in a much better spot....these amps can actually cut live without a boost. Every time I gigged with one of my C+s, even with an upper mid flavor boost pedal it still struggled to cut. Back to my Marshalls I went.I don't think I've ever seen a reissue guitar or amp ever tank the used market of the original product.
I'm not doubting a thing you said, I'm just saying this won't crash the prices of the originals, also I remember when Charvel brought back the strat head after FMIC take over in 2003, everyone thought original stratheads were done but it made them even more valuable. The difference though, is these Gibson/Mesa reissues are on par with the originals....and, in some cases even better. True. I'd say the vintage gear will still hold value; the parts used today are different etc...But the COVID increase with C+, early Rectos has come back pretty far from what I can see. These new reissues are not going to help the vintage versions turn into a Dumble/Trainwreck any time soon.I'm not doubting a thing you said, I'm just saying this won't crash the prices of the originals, also I remember when Charvel brought back the strat head after FMIC take over in 2003, everyone thought original stratheads were done but it made them even more valuable.
If you're buying an amp or guitar to speculate on future prices you're doing it wrong. All I am seeing is a bunch of guys who bought at the precipice of gear fear, getting more scared.
