The type of shoelaces you have will affect tone, too. TRUE STORY!

And socks. Damn straight I hit this shit up on my weekend gigs

Tone is in the argyle, baby... Don't kid yerseff.

V.

That's why I wear my steel toed boots. I need it to be heavy!

I should try those socks though. They might spice up my tone just enough for what I'm playing these days.

Is this the thread where we post all of our zingers that we had for the other thread? The ones we didn't use because it would just bump the post again?

How about this?

"Hey as long as you got into your amp to take the tube covers off, you might as well put some good tubes in there, or adjust the bias pot, or just not waste you time in there in general."

No, I like the one about condoms better.

yeah, i figured better left alone, and my concusion on it all..which was, a definitive...

MAYBE!

i can think of a ton of other tonal options that i'd rather experiment with before splitting these types of hairs...but, to each his own, and my ear is different than your ear, etc. keeping the heat in on an amp head, well, obviously the heat is going to escape out the top, as heat rises.

on a combo...maybe they help things heat up quicker, as the combo tubes in my amp hang upside down and the air wouldn't escape as easily...so, whatever effect highter temps on pretubes has over a longer period of run time, then, i wont argue against someone hearing a difference because of them.

my tube covers have springs loaded inside them and it seems they were meant to keep the tubes from vibrating loose and feeding back because of the vibration.

so, maybe. too many variables, and, again, splitting hairs, imho at that level..but, to each 'dey own.

You should try flipping the HT fuse around backwards. I hear this helps your tone too....

H - Hairy mode
T - Tight mode
