Well, I suppose this IS a MIM signature/tribute guitar. Not like I'd be chewing up a '64 custom color strat...
Just curious about this. Is the QC of the modern MIJ EVHs, Charvels and Fenders not up to par? I haven't played one in years but in the 90s the MIJ Fenders were much better than the MIM versions. The hardware and electronics on these is pretty good for that price point so as long as the fit and finish is okay I'd wouldn't hesitate. I'd expect the new Pro Mods to be of similar quality.AndyK":2pbsm752 said:And, I am sure the Mexican factory is making nice guitars. If it was made in Japan, I wouldn't want one, but I have an original 80's Floyd waiting to go into one of these!!

The low E to make the D-tuner slide easier. That's it. I've got an original Floyd and compared to my two EVH/Fender guitars, it's identical. So there's no need to replace it.
And B. I have an EVH Striped Series. Actually the one pictured above. The neck absolutely is the EVH Wolfgang shape. It feels great! Fret work and setup are excellent. No sharp fret edges. No high spots. Pickup. I like the Wolfgang pickup, so I'm biased. It has the growl of the new Wolfgangs. I think it's actually a bit louder than my EVH USA Stealth. I think it's the guitar. It's louder acoustically. My only complaint, which I expected, is the low end is a bit muddy. That's basswood though.
Fit and finish are flawless! I had issues with my Stealth when I got it. Long story, but I was not happy with the EVH quality control. But I can't find a thing to complain about with this guitar!
I plan on taking it apart soon. I have the same questions. Frets are bigger than the USA Wolf. Idk about "Jumbo" as advertised. They are big. Volume knob feels different to me. It's definately low friction. I assume the pick has the electronics as there's no rear panel. I'll pull it apart eventually.AndyK":3jjumw9e said:CP5150":3jjumw9e said:First, I'm pretty sure the EVH Floyd is an original Floyd, with the EVH logo and one change, the springy metal thing that pushes the string lock bolts up has one finger removed. Cool! An actual owner!
So, are the frets jumbo, or not?
And the Floyd, although "EVH" branded, is still probably Korean made - how's the block?
Does it have the EVH volume knob?
I'd love to see what's under the pickguard - looks like the pickup is direct body mounted, so are the electronics on the pickguard, or is it rear-loaded, and the pick guard is a decoration?

This EVH Striped Series has the entire piece. It looks identical to my original Floyd Rose. Feels the same to me too. And yes, the "Wolfgang" pickup in it is hotter than my USA Stealth. Maybe my Stealth needs a look at. The toggle switch cuts out. Maybe it's killing a bit of output too. Doubt it but maybe. Really a big fan of this Stripe Series! Mine rocks!

Good to hear, but not surprised. Eddie has never put his name on shit gear.
Mexican Plant? I thought he was making these in the back room of the Cabo Cantina?AndyK":3uuc6p4z said:BYTOR":3uuc6p4z said:CP5150":3uuc6p4z said:I stand corrected. True, I can see EVH taking a tour of the Mexican plant, making sure everything is up to par. He's nutty, but he does care about what carries the EVH logo.
