It's not like it's a completely different sound than other Marshall based amps...channel 3 alone is on an awful lot of recordings and VH4's are in a ton of studios. Man oh man some of the remarks on here really lack credibility..it's like "I played one once in a GC for 5 minutes at mouse fart volume with bad tubes and other issues...WTF? I bet a lot of these comments come from people who have never played one (VH4) at all. It's not like many stores carry them. I've had all 3 versions on the EVH amps, all good, sound a bit artificial, over saturated and "plasticky" IMO. But still a very good amp for the money and does a lot, quite versatile. However I think the VH4 is a far better amp and built like a brick shithouse out of top shelf components. With 4 channels all of which excel at what they do plus multiple loops that do not color the tone and Midi switching it is one the top tier guitar amps ever made...period! I sold all of the EVH amps in the end. Still have the VH4.
It's like someone who has never driven a Porsche but think they suck at handling. It's a joke.
They prefer their Hyundai and think it's the best handling car on the road...

I'll say it one last time, the 5150 is a fine amp, I wouldn't throw it over a cliff.
But at least the Diezel can handle the fall![]()
