It doesn't get much love, but it sounds great. But it weighs TOO much!

Maybe it's just nostalgia talking but I don't ever think there's been a correlation between the "quality" or price of my gear and how much fun I have playing. I miss the pre-internet days when gear-ignorance was bliss...
Damn man...you nailed it right there!
For years I used a Peavey Chorus 2X12 with an Ada MP-1 and was....*gasp*...happy?
This was before I ever heard of most of the amps available.
It wasnt until the Gear bug bit me....and I "HAD" to check out every amp available...
then I end back up with a Mesa Dual recto.(FJA modded of course) :D

And luckily I owned my JCM900 before the Internet taught us all how shitty they are.  Stupid me...I loved it!

Yup.....just sent off a JCM 900 SLX.....and it kicked all kinds of ass!

OR wait....it didnt because everyone else said they suck.

Great responses guys! I was cracking up reading alot of these. BTW, I owned a Gorilla a while back. Man that thing sounded like a cat in a lawnmower

Anyways by using the term "CRAP" i was trying to paint a picture of an amp that doesn't get much love from the guitar community but you just seem to love for some odd reason, plus the fact that it might go for a fraction for what it once did. Not a derogatory term at all.

Kinda like the dog you find at the pound that looks half dead but he turns out to be one of the best dogs you've ever owned!

- The Weav

I still love the original series Marshall Valvestates. Very hot-rodded JCM 800 sounding and cheap as hell.

I don't quite feel right calling it a "crap" amp, but I got a lot of mileage and drunk chicks with a Peavey Renown and spandex back in the day!!

since they sell for about $200, I still think the Blue Voodoo is a great amp for the bucks

Peavey Heritage with a metalzone stuck in front of it - actually sounded really good.

peavey Bravo, holy hell.

JCM900-SLX

Line 6 spider III

The old peavey trans-tube technology bandit 2x12's sounded killer.

i got a huge crush on cheap solid states.... randall, ampeg vh, vetta, prophecy, etc...

Crate GX-130C
Fender Stage 185
"Smokey" amp

Oh, and...

FUCK ALL YOU ROCKMAN HATERS!!!!!!!

Um,... Sorry... :scared: ...just had to get that out... You know I love you all...

Flextone HD
Original Pod Pro

These were the longest running amps I ever had.

Peavey prowler
Peavey Bravo
Peavey Ultra
See a pattern here?

Crate stealth, the carpet covering is fugly but that amp sounds great.

Red Bear MK120

It's a well built, Russian JCM800 with a fancy input boost and a lot of bass for $500 new. You can get that out of them used because the company tanked. The shitty part is the way they used their own preamp tubes. I had to have them rewired to fit a regular 12AX7. Might need to replace some tube sockets soon too. I get a crackle, but for the money, it owns!

my 2 favorite "cheap" heads would be the old marshall VS100, and the peavey XXL.

Both can be had for 200-300 used, and both sound awesome, especially the XXL.

Original Series Line 6 Flextone Head

Peavey Penta Head

Original Marshall Valvestate 8100

Roland Blues Cube

....Some of my faves under $300

My line6 spidervalve MK1 on the Breakin the law patch, through Celestion blackbacks.

DIME D100. Pretty cool for the price. Through my UberKab it sounds pretty darn good for under $400. Weighs very little is an added bonus.
