Sykes: Serpens Albus & either / both Blue Murder albums.

This. Sykes rules!

For Punk, Billie Joe Armstrong's Marshall absolutely kills!

Megadeth Rust in Peace is definitely up there with me. Mastodon most of the time. Pelican's Drought is probably one of my favorites if not my favorite tone. Then Bill Steer from Carcass. Love Napalm Death stuff like Suffer The Children, Entombed, Obituary, Morbid Angel.

Having said that Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil holds a special spot for me. As far as punk rock goes I really love East Bay Ray from the Dead Kennedys... just an odd ball tone which worked well with them. Misfits Walk Among us, early Buzzcocks..

But If I had to absolutely say 1 tone is my favorite definitely Pelican's on the song "Drought". Good god it sounds amazing

Crazy how this sounds on its own as opposed to in the mix. Took me forever to figure out that when my guitar sounds great in my jam room (no band), it usually gets lost in the mix

I hear that! Dialing in my amps with whatever I am jamming along to through the PA will almost always lead to a bright borderline harsh tone when played by itself. For me anyway.

I was pretty much trying to chase guitar tones through high school, not realizing I didn't have the gear (or the money) to achieve it at that time. LOL:

- Eddie's tone in "Panama" right after the solo and during the slow part when DLR is talking
- Doug Aldrich's tone on the DIO "Live In NYC" DVD/CD, especially during "Killing the Dragon"
- Lynch's tone on "Under Lock and Key"
- Schenker on U.F.O.'s "Darker Days" song

Thanks for the ufo vid. Longtime lurker, first time poster here. Popped my cherry on that one. Love some ufo, their Strangers in the night album instantly transports me back to 1979, the best period in hard rock IMO. Guess I’m just geezin now.

^^ Welcome to Rig-Talk HarveyHeadBanger. Pull up a chair and stay awhile :D

+ 1 to Megadeth and Crue. I've been on a huge Megadeth kick lately. Listened to RIP like 5 times in a row and now I've got that, Symphony, Youthanasia, and Hidden Treasures on continuous repeat.

But yeah, Eddie's tone on 1984 was smokin' hot. 'Girl Gone Bad'? Are you kidding me? Especially the outro solo.
