Paco De Lucia

Well now, that just changes the whole playing field...

Good call. McLaughlin's up there too, as is DiMeola. I'm still sticking with Mr. Zappa though...I liked his style 100% completely and utterly.

Gotta say though, your choice I did NOT see coming - good one!!

V.
I agree, now you gotta throw Andy McKee in there.

Impossible question is impossible. So many great ones. Lately, I've been digging Doug Aldrich a lot. Can't say flat out he's my favorite of all time though. So, I will say................

Dime, not my favorite tone, but the dude could rip it up big time

At one point in time I would have said Eddie Van Halen easily, but I've been disappointed with him for the last 13 years or so, regardless of the Roth reunion tour last year. In fact, i was even disappointed with him then with the whole Michael Anthony snub. I just wish Eddie would release some music damnit!

So my pick's Nuno, I've always been a fan, the man can throw down!

Gotta go with above and say Nuno. Dude just does not have a bad day, but at the same time he doesn't come off as too perfect. Even if he plays something the exact same way twice, each time still has a living, breathing vibrance to it.

Of all time? EVH tied with Lynch. Neither have released anything memorable in quite some time however.

Now? Jeff Loomis

Jimmy Page. Not just for playing but overall musicianship as far as writing, production, music business savy, attention to tone. IMO one of the best.

Jeff Beck, can't believe I'm the only one so far.

Jeff Beck is a KILLER player and in my top ten list.

He is playng better now than he ever has. In another 10 years he will be even better. He is a total student of his craft these days. Seems like he is more interested in playing than he has been in years and that is good for us all.

Tie: George Lynch / Adrian Smith

Juggy posted a tie, so I can too :gethim:
