Played them all. For me, there is really no place like home.

Agreed 110% Curt!

Charvel just works for me and my other guitars spend 99% of the time in their cases.

Lots of cool guitars, but i haven't seen any that fit the OP's description yet. Now THIS...

Luxxtone, Suhr, or Anderson would be my choices. Perhaps a cool Charvel.

Hard to beat a killer Tom Anderson Drop Top.

Charvel is just a fender with a different logo.
I've been there, they are made on the same machines. Same everything.
USA Strat.

I was going to say it but......I didn't want to see the crying.

Oh, and Jake E Lee's main guitar was a re-badged Strat as were many of the other 80's players.

C, D, V cut fender neck profiles are all different CNC program presets. Which of these are you suggesting are the same as Charvel's neck profile, which feels different to me?

I would LOVE to have Suhr or Anderson super strat but I can't do it without selling off a shitload of gear, just don't have the cash. That's what pushed me to my San Dimas....holy shit what a great guitar for the money! In all fairness, it may come off the same assembly line as a strat...i could care less, it's a badass guitar and plays like a dream. Screamer!

If you want a shredder you need at least a 10-14 radius or more. At least heavy frets, preferably jumbo. A Standard Strat 10" radius and medium frets would not do it for me.

cant go wrong with a charvel custom shop. i have played/owned a few nuno n4's, and they were totally hit/miss, but the good n4's were really great and if you look you can usually find one for a decent price. i scored a white n4 off of ebay around 5 years ago for $950 and it was easily one of the nicest sounding/playing super strats i have come across. but, the charvel custom shops i have played and owned have been killer!!!

USA Strat.

This is true for the discontinued USA Production model Charvel. However, it has a totally different neck shape to any USA Strat and an oil finished neck, and a Floyd Rose and Duncans or DiMarzios. It's mainly the neck that many prefer to a stock strat neck. You are right though, in terms of quality, the USA Production model is about equivalent to a USA Production strat, they just have a very different feel.

The Charvel Custom Shops however should not be lumped in as they aren't made on the same anythings as the Fenders are.

What's the ballpark for a basic custom shop Charvel?

To the OP: I've got a mahogany Jackson Soloist that has a nice growl in the mids, quite unlike my Fender. Of course, unpacking a black Soloist implies metal is going to be played, so while the guitar itself is pretty versatile, it does scare away women and children. And cats, but that's just a bonus.

:2thumbsup: At least you had the nads to say this here!!!

I own a MIJ So Cal and a regular production 2005 pointy reissue and both guitars are great IMO, but you are right!!! I have never played a Custom Shop Charvel so I cannot comment on those. My next guitar coming soon is a Luxxtone El Machete 22. Ironically my favorite axe to play out of all my guitars is my Carvin Alder Bolt+ with MCP pickups. I might pickup a Charvel Custom shop one of these days, but I had to get a Luxxtone while i had the funds!!!
