I think that is a misguided metaphor. There is a difference between playing standards or other people's music vs analyzing other people's music and creating something "new" based upon that. One is reproducing something for enjoyment vs aping other people's music to create new derivative product for profit. To me.......

Considering “analog AI” potentially could buy fender products, and digital AI doesn’t and couldn’t care at all, I don’t think that’s a good idea to alienate or downplay your potential customer base by telling them they’re basically useless.

Racer X’s cover of Godzilla is legendary. Yngwie’s cover of carry on my wayward son is one of my favourite songs of all time. Covers inspire music the way music was meant to be heard through interpretation and customization. The dudes no more of a musician than Leo fender himself was that founded it.

I wonder if all this is part of some sort of a pivot to become "much more than a guitar company". Talking up AI is just flat stupid if you want to appeal to musicians, but it might in his mind be smart if he's really trying to latch on to some AI dollars somehow.
