Nice. It seems articulate enough to easily cut through adding more gain/boost. I was getting some southern rock vibes off that lead tone though your licks were saying metal. Lead tone was good, just a little more gain would've smoothed out some of that nice bite. Amp seems really badass. Wish the guy made combos....

I thought so too. I'm not a "rock" player of any description, especially southern But i'm doing my best to take as many requests as possible because I know a lot of people are curious or want to hear specific things about this amp.

I'll give anything you post up a good listen when I get the chance. I don't have any special requests other than maybe just a little more gain or boost on that lead tone but it sounds like you are already going there so, good to go.

Yep that's 100% in the cards. I'm going to go a lot further with the lead stuff with a track that's more my speed, for obvious reasons. I'll probably try to work in some clean tone and delay pedal stuff into the modern track too.

Would it be accurate to say that the amp has a powerful EQ sweep kind of similar to a plexi when you are keeping volumes below 5 or 6?

Yes. It's very plexi-like in behavior, but has a much wider tonal and gain range with a much more functional master volume than say, a lar-mar/PPIMV. The different switchable caps, sat switch, and vintage/modern modes are all "subtle" in that they change the response and feel of the amp more than the gain and EQ, but that's because the gain range and EQ are pretty powerful like a well-sorted superlead.

This has switchable/selectable input caps? If so that's impressive design work and should be really helpful at higher volume settings.

I believe it's the first tone cap in the circuit - and it's two different mustard caps with very different responses. The 67 cap is open and more chimey, the 76 cap is fatter and more dense. It's honestly a really nice feature.

We actually have made some combos for a few local customers but just don't have them listed. A few reasons why, first off even a 50w 2x12 combo ends up being about 85 lbs. That sucks to move around! And even worse, it really sucks to try ship safely without damage, too heavy! The only way I would ship one would be the combo cab with speakers in one box, and the amp chassis mounted to the back panel packed in a seperate box. Most customers opt for a head and one of our 26" wide smaller 2x12 closed back cabs. Much easier to move around and ship. Also, I'm not a big fan of Marshall voiced amps in open back combo cabs. IMO you lose much of the Marshall thing in that you don't get the tight and authoritative punchy bottom end with an open back cab. Below is a 2-channel 50w JMP style 2x12 combo we did last year.

On the tone controls, they are much more active than a stock Plexi, metal panel or master volume Marshall. On many old Marshalls you can turn a tone knob a few numbers and not notice much difference. I can hear a difference in moving a knob 1/2 of a number on our amps.

I recently acquired a Red channel MGL and I would say the eq sweep is in general much more powerful and user friendly than in any Marshall.
Really, to eq these amps you need to dispose of your Marshall standards.

If by chance you have the “low input”, I’d recommend messing around with the Sat switch on it. It effectively turns that channel into a crunch channel!

Guys you really need to take the plunge on these bad boys.
