Glad this amp is getting some love—I’ve had most of the ‘hot rodded Marshall’ amps out there and this new MGL is my favorite. Thing just feels and sounds like the Marshall in your head.

Yes. It's very plexi-like in behavior, but has a much wider tonal and gain range with a much more functional master volume than say, a lar-mar/PPIMV. The different switchable caps, sat switch, and vintage/modern modes are all "subtle" in that they change the response and feel of the amp more than the gain and EQ, but that's because the gain range and EQ are pretty powerful like a well-sorted superlead.

Yes. The switches are a lot about feel. But they definitely sound crazy different when you got the amp dialed in perfectly for one sound

This has switchable/selectable input caps? If so that's impressive design work and should be really helpful at higher volume settings.

And I agree, the modern/vintage scratches a very specific itch for a relatively underserved part of the gear community

It's like trying to make an "idealized" marshall but without the slickness, "produced" sound, and de-fanging that plagues this type of amp - that's one thing it just plain excels at. Honestly marshall should be paying MGL to design their amp line. It can absolutely nail plexi tones, metal panel tones, and heavy stuff, but without being excessive with the extraneous bullshit.

I dig it. Maybe crazy request, but can you do an “in the room” mike or cell recording. Im sure that makes the professional in you twitch, but I think it provides a good vibe on how it sounds and feels in the room.

Well I was already working on the vintage mode track before the amp even got here, obviously it's gonna be a bit slower for everything else and I already knew the main riff or so from the bad religion song

I'm just trying to get as much recorded and as many feasible requests met as possible while I have the amp in my possession, because I know there are a lot of members who are curious/interested in it

You are definitely doing more than i have seen anyone else do for a free demo. Everything i have heard is spot on dialed in beautiful. Very excited to see what else you come up with

I was shocked at how much better the MGL vintage mode sounded than the placeholder plexi scratch tracks - it really does pop in a big way on recording

It is crazy listening to your recordings because I can hear my amp when you play. They aren't exactly the same circuit. But very close. It kicks ass that you are finally getting to try one
