Another jackass changing the diode type and marketing as a new circuit. FWIW, most of these new pedals are existing design with a component or 2 changed. Most of the time it’s a diode type and not much more

But but magic red LEDs :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Get the silver (newer one). It's less noisy and has two outputs (y)
Or you could seek out the Kerry King model with the cool swirly art on it.
How much less noisey are we talkin here?
I have a black one and it’s pretty fuckin noisey,‘especially in front

Subtle but noticeable IMO. I definitely wanted a noise gate with either but I do think the newer one is improved.

There is a video comparison btw the stock Od9 and the fortin modded od9 in the video. I much prefer the stock. Do not like the fortin at all.

It sounds fine. Just a slightly hotter 808. Nothing my 808 won’t do with a little extra gain dialed in on the amp or pedal.

I did something similar with an Ibanez TS5 back in 08, for less than $50 all in.

It's not difficult to lift the diodes for a huge volume boost, or use LEDs instead.

Pretty sure a Way Huge Green Rhino with the bass and mid knobs will cover this.

So who is blowing $200 on this?

What’s funny is that I changed the stock diodes in my Ceriatone Centura to some NOS ITT germanium diodes and it really transformed the pedal for the better. Granted the forward voltage of the new diodes are a bit lower so it’s not as loud and gain likely comes on faster, but the overall tone got nicer and it lost a lot of the dreaded mid-bump.

the Rimrock mythical overdrive does that but makes it switchable. There are 16 other component value changes to the original clone circuit and iMHO is the best Klone on the market, yet the maker doesn’t claim for it to be some earth shattering design.

I've seen people put together a breadboard with various diodes on it. So they can alligator clip in and try several before they put it in the pedal.

The VFE merman uses a knob to so you can blend in the amount you want in either germanium and silicone diodes (I understand they can both be out of the circuit as well. Along with the other added features, I really like it a lot.

Maybe the old black 10 band I've been running for the last 13 years is an anomaly, because it's dead quiet.

Anyone know how this modified Maxon compares to his Hex drive? I have the Hex and I like it but I don’t know anything about what type of clipping it is using. It does sound different to a TS.
