Seems its available in germany for 1400 Euros (thats 2100 $ for the standard - yes, we love VAT :D ) - I have one question:

- can I hook my all tube preamp to its return and use fx/cab sims to record the pre?

(I know its shown innthe manual - anybody tried it yet? Ed should have tried it - at least with the Flexi/Palmer thing . . . )

Merci :)

I believe that is one of his rigs, Flexi through the FX and using either the Palmer or FX cab sims.

Yup, you sure can. You put the preamp in the fx loop and then you can put it anywhere in the signal chain you want, any fx in front/behind it, in parallel with it, etc. I've been thinking about doing this with my Randall RM4 rig for grins, but I really am enjoying the amp modelling.

Thanks Rich, looks like I want the Ultra, figures....

I went through the same thing and decided it was worth the extra cash...just for the extra power.

Sure have...best part is running your amp loaded down into it. And then running it in parallel wit an amp sim into different cab sims inside.
Plus into a power amp with miked speakers. HA!

So what floorboard are you guys using with your Axe-FX?

You can use something as cheap as the Behringer FCB1010 which I used once upon a time and it worked well. But now I use Rolands FC-300. I use it because I also incorporated a Roland VG-99 and the Roland Fantom XR sound module into my rig. With the FC-300 being able to communicate with other Roland midi devices in it's proprietary sysex format, setting patch changes as well as parameter changes is extremely easy and fast. Plus I added two more Roland EV-5 expression pedals for a total of 4! Why? For realtime parameter control of up to 4 effects that I'd like to modify on the fly for a particular song I may be playing assigned to a master patch. Cool stuff like controlling the LFO of a Fantom synth patch, while using another pedal for more or less guitar overdrive, using another for more delay depth, the other for fattening a chorus etc. But for someone using an FC-300 for just an AxeFx it's definitely overkill. Fractal Audio is coming out with a new controller soon specifically tailored to the AxeFx. From what I've read it should be pretty awesome.
