Friedman BE OD vs BE100

I owned the Runt 50 and BE-OD at the same time. Pedal sounded pretty good into the low input of my 2203 JMP, but it didn't work well with some of my other amps. As far as it sounding like an amp, it sounds decent in the bedroom, but with the band, no way. I ended up trading the Runt 50 for a 20th anniversary Shiva as well as selling the BE-OD. I loved the BE-100 amp, but the Runt and OD just didn't cut it with my band

Now that you own the Shiva how does it compare to those other amps you have owned?

I have the pedal and the amp. Running the BE-OD through the clean channel on the BE100 sounds great, but the power is not there. Lot's of oomph missing. That said, still a very usable sound that i would use all day. I just have no reason to do that.

I found the BE-OD to be better for amps that i just don't like. Run that through the clean channel and usually i can get a great tone that i like out of it.

Man, my 100w Marshall has all the oomph I could ever want. It has very organic gain, but I can feel the oomph in my molars and gut. It's just always there. A good pedal makes it better.

I'm just saying, running the BE-OD to the clean channel of the BE-100 is not the same as running the BE or HBE channel on the BE-100. The BE and HBE channels are way more powerful sounding. This is basically the comparison the OP is asking for.

YMMV on other amps. I tend to like this pedal on other amps that are not Freidman's.

As stated before, the power section makes/breaks the pedal, PLUS how many volts you run.. 9 or more to 18. I have a '14 Be-100 and a BE-OD with the artwork. I can get the tone I want through my BE. Then run the same guitar, cables, cab with the BE-OD through the BE fx return and get the same tone. Let me repeat.. I can duplicate the same tone through the FX loop return. It sounds different through the clean channel, but I can get so close, you can't tell on a recording between the 2.

I have also ran it through different channels, and FX return of a EVH 51503 100 watter, a 6505+, my Peavey classic 120 power amp, with different results, but all were killer. Of course these are 6L6 power sections. My BE is the only other EL34 amp I have.

My pedal is out on loan to a buddy right now, who is running it through his Marshall set up.. His words were "This is stupid, how do you get that tone from a pedal".. He hasn't finished putting it through it's paces yet, but so far what I've heard has been killer.. maybe he will chime in when he's finished "trying it out".

So I have Hilltop's be-od and have not put it thru the entire paces yet. But what I have done is run it thru the clean channel of my DSL, and it slays. One day this week it will go thru the loop, but as for now just in front of my junk it absolutely kills. Is it a BE 100 no, nor does it have to be. It covers all the ground that you could want and then some.
