Friedman BE or Axe FX2

I highly doubt there will be an Axe-FX III for a long time. It uses 2 of the most powerful DSP's available, and they aren't really working on more powerful DSP's at the moment.

Not to mention the original Axe-FX's were out for like 6 years or something before the II.... I think the II has only been out 1.5 years or so...

Offtopic, but moltenmetalburn, wtf is with the avatar? Hahaha!
You should know the rules by now, NO pics of your girlfriend, sister or mom! Brad will be pissed.

Axe 2 my friend!!!!! I had a BE, a KS, a Cameron Aldrich and an Atomica in my possession when the Axe 2 arrived! After keeping all of them for a few months, the amps are gone and the Axe 2 is still here. It was hard letting them go, but the Axe 2 won out and the funds from the other amps helped by a couple of really cool Historics!!! The Axe 2 sounds and feels amazing and is just tooooooo damn convenient!!!

Go with the fleshlight. Less maintenance. Seriously though I would get the BE.

When I picked up my Marsha from Tone Merchants I was noodling on an AXE FX Ultra while I was waiting. The Marsha sound in the Axe did not sound as good as the real amp IMO. I would take the real amp, Oh wait I did!

you wanna keep tweaking for the rest of your life ==> Axe FXII

you wanna play and sound great ==> BE

And...I went the opposite way with the same Axe II.

I've owned both and had them at the same time. Tone and feel wise the Friedman amp won out but for what I want and need the modeler route fit me best. In that arena the Kemper is better and got me closer to the real amp experience than the AxeFX 2 did and in some ways beats out a real amp.

Axe 2. Why cuff yourself to one sound, no matter how good? Knowing people around here, even the best amp, just like the hottest chick, will get boring after a while.

I've had both. I still have the Axe.

It all comes down to if you are a tweakhead or a guitar player. If both, which side is strongest.

I've got a Splawn SR love it!! I got the Axe2 with the Mfc 101, love it and still I had to pre order the Steve Stevens Friedman!! I can't wait!!! But the point is if you can swing it there's never too much gear!!

I like this thread... more so.. Axe Fx II vs Friedman BE-100 for live applications?? I know with the axe fx II and mfc controller your presets are endless... the friedman somewhat limited with no boost, etc. Can the Axe Fx II sound 'good' live say thru 2x12's or 4x12 and can you get that pushed air sound that you know you get with tube amps?? Im sure in a room the axe fx II sounds great.. or thru frfr's.. but can it sound as good on a stage in a band mix?? Cheers

I vote for the BE-100. I know it does not have a boost, but I heard the Koko Boost works great with it.

Why would you need a boost for a modded Marshall??

volume boost for lead work/solos. A must for my rig

Actually you can get the BE with a footswitchable boost for both the clean and gain channels. The gain boost is the Hairy Brown Eye.

Cory, in the clubs you play, don't you mic through the PA? If so, hit it direct with the Axe FX2 to the mixing board. Use an active monitor with all you in it and send a monitor mix to you back from the sound desk. You won't notice not have a cab behind you. Plus, the rest of the band can all of a sudden hear each other and you won't be sending ice picks to the audience. If you just got to have a cab and an power amp, there is already a set up in the Axe directory, as well as a 4CM set up. Turn the sims off and pick your preamp and FX blocks.
