Fryette Pittbull Ultralead II

I think it's different for you American folk who have a history with the brand. Fryette is not well-known down under, and even though I've been an amp obsessive for decades I've never owned one.

We had a PS2A for a bit, but sold it after some issues.
The thing i think about is if you take a car/motorcycle/amp and you make it good. Then you put it out there, and maybe you find some problems, or think, man i wish i did this instead, then change that one thing or maybe make something better while you do fix that one thing. Then you have an established product that you are tweaking toward perfection.

But the masses like flashy and gimmicky, so you ground up make something else that has all these new problems.

It insinuates that the problem with the ultralead is that it wasn't gimmicky enough. I can't imagine thinking that i need an IR on my amp. Or a digital graphic eq or presets.

There are people that want that. But those people are probably not interested in a tube amp, and probBly not interested in a rack setup.

It begs the question, who the fuck is this for? The three musicians he knows that want some weird fucking setup? Or it started that way and then he thought, i can make a few additions and this will be a one stop shop for a new musician? New musicians probably aren't coming in at this price point.

The digital musician can get a floor unit for 1700 that is light. They probably dont know what the fuck a rack is and think tubes are for their grandpa.

It is a bit baffling. I really wish we could see the sales figures if he ever gets it gojng

I think it may be confusing where i am going. But watch all the youtube videos when the latest iteration of an i phone comes out, then watch how fast the technology is outdated.

If you bought a jcm 800 in '83, it will be just as cool today. But that goofy digital section of this rackmount will be outdated in 5 years easy.

Modelling technology is coming along so fast that what was greeat 5 years ago is OLD.

This is happening in every industry. In motorcycles, it is tft with ride modes. Most ridiculous shit ever. A rider doesn't need fucking ride modes. You adjust your throttle, shifting, and braking to the conditions.
We are breeding ignorance in everything we do it seems.
The price for this isn't that of a Larry, but in five years, what do you think the hit will be if you try to resell it? I wouldnt spend this level for something that will soon be obsolete. I barely play the game with damn phones. And i wait til they nearly are obsolete before i get a new one, because most of the features they come out with are gimmicks aimed at children

I totally, totally get this. It's like this for all digital gear, and I really don't like it.

Part of the reason I love guitar gear is that generally it isn't this designed-obsolescence CONSOOM bullshit.

It's stuff made to last forever, and can actually be maintained and repaired.

Making it digital just makes it (eventually) disposable

There is a pricepoint where you can begin to accept the disposable state of something.
This is not that pricepoint

100%.

I can handle an 800$ kemper or something. At 4 grand? Hell no 1000X over.

If some of you guys are comfortable with that, that's totally cool, it's just well beyond my levels of "burning money" toleration. And yes, if you sell it a week after buying it i know that isn't going to happen, yall know exactly what I mean.

The only thing that might save it is, if it sounds amazing. But after trying a bunch of high end, high gain amps in one visit to my local store and leaving actually drooling about a Bassman 4x10 reissue instead, I'm not enthusiastic. But I think that also means my old ass is not the demo anymore, so I bought some tan pants online when I got home.
Hey, those extra pockets are very useful.

I have tan pants dreams sometimes with the maz 18. Ironically, Dr Z doesnt make any cool digital sections of his amps

He should fire them. I don't feel like it went well at namm
Ya, I don't understand. They can't keep their current dealers supplied. Maybe they have other plans coming down the pike. I don't know if it went well or not for them, but I wouldn't be happy if Friedman showed up with a potential Power Station killer, Plus, the VHT name got sold again, and the new company is releasing a Pittbull knockoff.

No shit?! That is fucking hilarious.

@stephen sawall you have to tell us the real story of why he sold the vht name in the first place

So no clips of this yet?

I cant get over how bad those early ULs sound in comparison to their other amps.
We've only seen the prototype from the NAMM videos, and it wasn't playable. Supposedly it's shipping in March.

In his defense. Whoever he wants it to be for?

Maybe he had a personal goal to fit a monster transformer into a tiny little space and thats all he cared about or he wanted to make an amp for Page and that's all.

Not sure how well off he is but some of these amps builders dont really need money or care who buys.

I play brutal death metal for example, I make $0. I make the music for me, because I like it, if someone else likes it cool. If not 🤷‍♂️

I will respect it if he made it for him. I just feel like this is a marketing ploy to be more mainstream with what is "in"
And it tracks with a new marketer that makes him go to namm.

If you are making something for you, you dont need to market it.

I like to say everything I do is for my own amusement. Including my YouTube channel. It is mostly just me posting troll videos or shitty clips of me playing.

That is a very fair argument. He paid 10k to bring it to Namm  or whatever it is that they charge.

In all honesty this amp is becoming more appealing to me each day. Referencing the full retard post a few pages back the more I play the more I want to go full tard and get a cortex and frfr.

The lightweight thing is appealing but the fact that it is rackmount is ehhh. Then I want a power conditioner, tuner, pro rack g and a case. Might as well be a full weight tube amp at that point.

Really just want to hear the damn thing like everyone else probably does.
