Fryette Sig:X = One of the best amps ever built. IMHO

I have done that on the clean channel and it does sound nice cranked up but not as good as other Non Master amps I own or have tried. If the SIg X was my only amp I would probably be content, in an ignorance is bliss sort of way. Not dogging on the amp. Just that, for what it does, I have or know amps that do it a lot better, for my ears but of course that means you have 2-3 amps instead of one

Agree .... if you want a particular sound you need the amp that is known for that sound. If I am going someplace & want a lot of variety to choose from the Sig X is the one I bring. My favorite sound is still a stock / unmodified JMP circuit in the chunk range....but often need more variation.

Ironically I just demo'd a Mark V again (been very up and down on 'em) and think I want one of those.

The v is alright.. Get one.

When I had a Sig X, it was the clean channel I wasn't overly fond of. But the medium gains and high gains were pretty much the best I've ever had.

I very much like the clean channel .... But everyone likes different things.

Who still owns this amp?

Sold mine a couple months back and regretted it ever since. Most versatile amp I ever owned, and it was excellent at all tones it did, no mediocracy in any tones.

Could be my and all be all amp.

Ughhhh I really want some fryette tone in my life too..

Yup, that's why I still have my UL. That amp is a stayin', forevaar.

Now go git one.........

Right here.

Just like 7 Stringer said, all the 'in between' tones in the Sig:X are awesome too. It's not a "jack of all trades, master of none", but closer to a "master of all trades"...if it contained an Engl Savage-ish rhythm tone with that juicy saturation and a Mesa Mark series clean tone (more Fendery), it would be insane.

A really cool thing is the FX-Loop's serial fx-level goes above and way below unity gain. Meaning you can crank the channel master volumes and turn the overall volume down, by engaging the fx-loop. Or use the empty fx-loop as a Master Lead boost.

Would love to try one. I really miss my 100CL. I thought the quest was over but you guys are giving me the twitch.

If it was jack all trades master of none I would be using my other twenty amps more. Not only can it cover and often sound better than many amps ....it does many sounds none of my amps can not do.

This is kind of Fender.... It still sounds like a Fryette.

O'clock....

Clean Channel:
Brite
Norm
100W
Open
Volume - 9:00 -10:00
Treb - 2:00
Mid - 10:00
Bass - 2:00
Pres - 2:00
Depth - 2:00

Rhythm Channel:
Vintage
Gain I - 12:00
Gain II - N/A
Boost Off
Less Mode
40W
Master - 12:00
Scoop
Treb - 2:30
Mid - 9:00
Bass - 9:00
Pres - 10:00
Depth - 5:00

Both of these sounds are more Blackface.

Setting the Clean Channel to 40watt and / or Fat.
On the Rhythm Channel to Wood and / or turning on the boost and adjusting Gain II.

This gets more of a Tweed sound.

The Sig X is very reactive to different guitars and speakers.... So it might not work with your rig.

Since RT is often about the heavy....
Here is a few voices I have been using lately.

Rhythm Channel:
Live
Gain I - 3:00
Gain II - 5:00
Boost On
More Mode
100W
Master - 9:00 ~ 10:00
Wood
Treb - 3:00
Mid - 9:00
Bass - 3:00
Pres - 2:00 ~ 4:00
Depth - 2:00

Take this setting and switch on Burn and Scoop.... and adjust the Depth.

Lead Channel:

Brit
Gain I - 3:00
Gain II - 5:00
Boost On
More Mode
100W
Master - 9:00 ~ 10:00
Wood
Treb - 3:00
Mid - off-9:00
Bass - 3:00
Pres - 2:00 ~ 4:00
Depth - 2:00

Same as the other switch on Blow and Scoop.

The pots are very sensitive and interactive.... So you need to fine tune to your rig. Gain I on both these sounds can make a huge difference.

wish I would have kept my Sig X and passed on the 93 Classic Pitbull I have now.

So much love on the UL and Sig X... i wonder if anybody like their masterbuilt CLX ?
