Looking to find fair value for one of the 66 aged custom shop Les Pauls from 2006.

Everything I have found is outdated in terms of pricing.

How much would you ask if you were the owner?

Appreciate it.

Incredible guitars! Here are my two...not for sale. Hope you find one, bro!

How are those repro Dirty Fingers bridge pickups? Anywhere close to the originals?
I have only played the original DF in a custom a few times. These are very very close....I actually like the one in the Sykes LP better.

I have some notes about the newer "reissue" DF sounding different from the old originals, but to be honest I haven't compared back to back in the same guitar.

I assume those are not had signed on the back of the headstock?
Correct. That is Gibson's John Sykes stamped signature. The laminate certficate that comes with each guitar is signed by John Sykes.

I saw one of the non-aged ones listed on Reverb for 15K a few days ago.

It sold but not sure at what price.

I had a newer DF, that unexpectedly came in a Greco a while back. Sounded like a Duncan Custom which isn't a bad thing....but, when I put a real Shaw era DF in it blew the doors off the repro DF. Not even close haha.
If you are after the real thing, get the real thing. Like in most cases unfortunately. The only exception seems to be the Gibson/Mesa reissue amps that are spot on to the real deal C+/Early Rectos.

It's a shit market for most items these days, except for those super rare items that don't come up very often. If I owned something rare I'd not let it out the door for less than market value. I'd hold on to it otherwise.

What are the pickup specs on a Gibson DF pickup? What magnet? I think I played one in the early 90's and for some reason didn't care for it.

I'd have to disagree. The repros have some of the character, and the output is there, but the originals to me are much more musical. They are pretty much a one trick pony, but that pony is a ribbon winner.
It kills me that I have a set without a home right now :(

I think the OG DF's are some of the best guitar pickups ever made. Can't anyone make excellent repros? I know Scott can but he's not making pickups ATM.

His clips were definitely the closest I've ever heard. And his are potted. Hopefully he starts winding again in the future. If not, the p'ups that are out in the wild might eventually reach Dumble status.

Yep! Around 15 years ago I snagged a double black OG DF for 100 bucks. That price was stupidly low even back then.

The crazy thing is that the OG DF's are from the Norlin era! Come on Gibson (Cesar)! You can't get the repros right? WTAF?

Tim Shaw designed those. He's at Fender now. If Fender was smart, they'd have Tim make sonic duplicates. Fender would sell a shit ton of 'em once the word got out. He designed Wolf Van Halen's new pickups...

I bought a set about the same time. I believe they are from '84. I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to using them again but I can't bring myself to sell them

Smart. You'd kick yourself if you sold 'em. The right guitar will come along.
