Did I misinterpret, I thought someone in that thread say GY was stopping making LPs? Did that just mean for this particular "run"?

Fact

from what I have seen of Greg's work chances are you wont be able to tell it was broken.

To answer a bunch of questions:

- With the Gibson lawsuit, I was advised to be a little concerned of shipping the guitar out/in as there may be a Customs flag and could be confiscated.

- Gil is not covering the work. He considers his job to be done.

- I am covering the repair work and shipping.

- Gil is still making 59 Replica's. I was led to believe otherwise.

- Replacing the set neck requires a lot of work and refinishing. Same amount of time and effort to build a new one. That said, I am on my own.

- Refund not possible. He blames the shipping company. It was suggested by Gil that I make a fraudulent claim against them. What?

- I still have a couple of cards to play.

- Gil was pretty good to work with, right up until the point of final payment.

- Right now, I wouldn't let him change the strings on my fucking guitar.

- My asshole still hurts from the reaming and no lube.

BULLSHIT, insufficient packaging ALWAYS comes back to the seller.

Having followed you and Pete's respective GY builds, this is sad to see. I can't imagine how sick you must have felt. Why in the world would anyone who spends so much time and effort crafting something like that skimp on the packing? Sounds like he's had similar issues in the past too.

Man, I was JUST visiting my dad in PA this week. He literally lives right around the corner from BCR and I wanted to stop in for a visit and couldn't make it this time. To think, I could have seen the damage first-hand. Super bummed! :D

Glad to see it's in good hands and it will be like new (or slightly used) when you finally get it back.

Hind site is always 20/20 but it's really no surprise to me that a guy who will steal a Gibson design and reproduce them illegally would screw you over in the end over a piss poor packing job. Even if I were so inclined to drop that kind of coin on a guitar, I'd never buy a knock off from a thief..... I could give a damn if the heavens opened up when you played it. As a designer myself....what Gil does goes against everything in me.

Sucks man and I hate it for you but live and learn I guess.

Color me a vindictive bastard but I hope Gibson shuts him down for good. What a dung bag.

That is an incredible response from the builder. Not that I was in his target market, but I'll definitely pass along that response to anyone who is.

<edit>
This situation is a cluster, somebody is lying big time, and I don't know who to believe.

+1

well, knowing about this would dissuade me from even considering him for a replica.

guess I better call Bartlet.

WOW no chance I would have ever afforded one,but have to say after reading his response I'm glad I cant. Me I would have been on a plane to pay him a vist with a bat,it would be a lot longer than 2 months before he could build anything let alone wipe his ass. Hope this gets out and his rep is shot from it. Also hope the repair is so good your unable to tell good luck with it.

That sucks! I bet Gil's reputation is taking a hit due to this situation.

maybe you can start a website that documents your experience so when people do a web search on yaron, the site would get a hit and warn others.

that would hurt his business a bit and may imporve his customer service!

sounds like GY is a douchebag to me. Did his company NOT ship this guitar? It IS his fucking problem.

I think if I got that kind of answer out of the guy I'd be going postal on his ass. Karma is a bitch but I'd be inclined send a copy of the invoice to Gibson's Legal team as someone is out there building 59 replicas and logoing them as Gibson's ;)
