looks awesome and not at all to piss the beautiful works of art (they look killer) but how do they sound now? do you notice any differnce?

one lesson i learned early on painting a killer guitar i had... it no longer was killer.

learned with a killer neck as well. made sure to only take the gloss off and not any wood. the neck was ruined...to be 17 again. :)

i suppose it could go the other way and a half way decent neck or guitar will get better but it hasn't been the case in my experiences.

for me, if it has paint and sounds killer i don't touch them and if they don't have paint i don't paint them.

Damn those look f*ckin killer...

I love those skull tuner knobs. Where did you find those

Thanks everyone for the kind comments!

They sound fantastic, they were painted before so i really don't think the paint would have too much of an impact on the tone for these 2.

I know its bad form and all but fuck it, what did that run you?

I don't want to say the prices out of respect for Mike but I will say that the prices are extremely fair especially when you see how much time he spends on them. Here is a link that actually has the ESP getting painted, this was done over 2 days and didn't even include the prep time, getting the initial drawing on the guitar and clear coating it - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/learnairbrushlive.

I've done the opposite. I had a guitar with a thick poly finish that was (professionally) stripped to a natural finish (oiled). Sounded no different, everything else equal.

oh man come on! :) say the word tone and then put your hand over your mouth and say tone again. hear the difference? in the extreme this is what you get when have bare wood and then add a thin coat of paint much less removing a thick poly finish and saying the tone didn't change! everything effects tone!

Not when you play with so much gain and compression that all dynamics are completely squashed ;)

I think that example is a little extreme, maybe you have super keen fine tuned hearing but the shit sounds the same to me :rawk:

Now you are going to need some velvet suits so you don't scratch them up.
