Hennings Cherry Bomb (VIDEO CLIP)

I have never heard any down tuned metal/rock clips of this amp so I was curious.

Maybe throw a boost in the front and riff away.

I think I know what you're saying here. You are pointing out the organic and open nature of the amp - this is not an ultra saturated/compressed amp that "plays itself" like some Marshall mods or other high gainers you might hear (not that that's a bad thing - this is just a different beast), although you can get plenty of sustain for leads. You gotta have solid control and technique with this amp, but those that do are rewarded handsomely...

Steve, I do respect your work. This amp looks amazing.

I have heard some clips over the times on here and I do thing that this amp has one of the best lead tones I have ever heard.

My question is how do you think this amp does with high gain?

I assume it is not designed for that but I do hear some gain in these clips. To me it doesnt have to be super compressed or saturated to get good gain (but what the hell do I know)

When i play mine i do use a boost infront of it. The amp is very uncompressed without any of the saturation in the mix. Generally i use an 808 style boost in front of the rod channel with out clipping and it will do get pretty damn heavy sounding. I am using the boost to help add compression and more gain to help my sloppy playing .

I have a heavy 7 string thing I'm working on that I'll have to put up - super heavy and no boost (although it takes boosts nicely)…

Great sounding amp, maintains clean note separation even as you moved the volume/gain up. Has that old JMP vibe where you can hear everything cleanly no matter how wild it gets.

Very nice, props to the builder. Nicest modded-M type amp I have heard in a long time. The prob I find with other modded-m examples is there is more gain available, and they are fun at apartment volumes, but it tends to crutch the amp and take away the cut M's are known for once you actually need some volume.

I can bet this one will cut nice with a band.

rockinchippy, can you compare what you heard/felt from the Cherry Bomb to a Splawn Quickrod? I've played Splawns for years now and that clip sounded a lot like my QR.

I know you asked Rockinchippy for a comparison but, i have had both at the same time. To me the Quick Rod is a little drier, tighter and isnt as raw as the henning. The Henning is way more dynamic.
