For real though. It's music. Don't get it twisted. Reza liked it because it provided him with a feeling, which is all music is supposed to do. You listen to Slayer/Pantera/Death/Exodus and you get pumped and wanna jump and break shit, or it proves an impetus for you to write a sick new riff in a style you wouldn't have before you heard it.
You listen to some Annie Lennox/Sade/whoever with your woman, different feelings, just as valid.
Everybody bitching about 'musical integrity' and whether or not these guys deserve success or not is missing the point. The only opinion that matters is the guy listening to whatever and digging it. Just because it doesn't sound like Pantera or Lynch or EVH doesn't mean it's bad. Just different. Who gives a fuck about their image. It's music and you listen to it...way too many people get caught up in who a band is and what they look like or talk about in interviews. How many people knew what Zeppelin looked like when they heard the first song from em? Or the Allman Brothers, or Ozzy or whoever? Who gives a shit what these guys talk about in interviews? The ever increasing pervasiveness of modern media weirds me out. I don't care what a band's religious or political views are simply because it has no bearing on my listening experience. The first time I heard Slayer I just thought it was heavy ass riffs and Satanism never crossed my fuckin brain, because who gives a shit? People that blame music for crimes are the same people that blame kids for doing violent things because of video games.
These guys are gonna sink or swim on talent alone...image can only get you so far. Anybody remember Crazytown? Didn't think so. They'll be gone soon enough.
If the tunes move you then listen. If they don't, then don't. Buncha haters up in here.
