How much do these things cost anyway? Sure, I could search but it's late and I am tired.

The preamp does not have an effects loop. Yes, You can run effects in between the preamp and power amp.
That's the only thing that holds me back from getting one, no loop.

Oh yeah, and being flat fucking broke. That too.

No need for a loop with a preamp. The loop would be after the preamp section in a head. Either straight in to fx unit (series) or into a line mixer (parallel) is the exact same as a loop.

Who has their Mak4 mated to a 2/90/2?

I am trying to pick a dedicated power amp and I think that's the one but would like to hear some opinions.

This. The output to the power amp would go into the effects loop of another amp and an A/B switcher could be run to go through the pre of the amp or the Mak4 pre-amp. I'm considering doing this.

 Why would someone need a loop in a pre amp??

Man, this thing looks cool. Can't listen to any clips at work but I have never heard of this thing until now!!

Don't know that's why I apologized in advance for the noob question. My mp-1 and my triaxis both have loops so I guess they thought someone would.

well i would think that a loop in the preamp would be before the master volume so you could push the power section of the power amp harder without clipping the inputs of any fx processors or pedals.

True...you don't but...Having them is nice...Kinda like a fluffy kitty...they just make me smile.. :D lol!!

loop in a preamp = one more spot for your tone to get fucked.

the rack spaces between your preamp and power amp shall be your "loop".

To quote myself, above. And you can still push the input of the power amp, you simply turn the input of the FX unit down to avoid clipping. ;)

Running it into my Egnater MOD 100 loaded with SED 34's and into my Super lead with GE 6550's and the mako plex and the dorado both sound incredible at bedroom levels. Made my 5150 III sound weak! Can't wait to move some air tomorrow with her!

Not diggin the 5150 III? I bet the Mak4 does sound killer. I miss my Mak2 big time.

No time with it yet. The fricken masters are so picky. I mean you just crack it and it's fricken loud. Have to wait till today.

Maybe a larger value volume pot?

I understand that but I have experienced myself with my Mak4 and my G major 2 that the master volume settings I prefer ( super f'n loud) clip the input of the unit at any setting. It was this I was referring to.
