How far will you travel to go to guitar stores to try out stuff and how often do you? I usually go out to about 2 stores a week, and distances range from a few miles to around 25 miles for me.

240 mile round trip that i make once, maybe twice a year if that. have not had all that time or care to do it lately though.

At least 25 miles. More like 40 to a "real" guitar store.

As far as I think I need to... So far that has been like 300 miles...

wow, im at the low end of the spectrum. I dont even compare to what you guys are all doing. I might be taking a trip up the Ny thruway tomorrow ( trip is a total of 1 hour from my house each direction) to try out a new store. This will be the longest I have gone for a guitar store.

I have friends all over the country in the business, fuck driving around doing nothing

Better things to do.

My job has me covering a 3 state territory (GA, Al, TN)...You do the math   I'm in Knoxville today and just found a little vintage shop - Music Room Guitars. Packed from floor to ceiling with some very cool reasonably priced gear

Store proximity was a factor in deciding where to live when I moved to CA. I live within 15 miles of arguably the finest guitar store in the bay. 25 miles from the city proper's offerings, and approximately 40 miles in either direction from 3 other boutique shops. Still want to get down to LA and check out TM.

3.8 miles to the nearest Guitar Center, there are other shops closer ..... tones of great shops within 30 miles of me. ..Dozens .... Lots of great vintage shops and a handful of boutique shops ...
Pretty much anything I ever read about on the web is less than 20 miles from here.

I drive about 70 miles maybe once a year to hit Chuck Levins in D.C. ................and I won't stop at the 3 Guitar Centers that I pass on the way

There are about 5 stores all within a 15-20 minute drive from me. I'm hitting a few this Friday.

I live about 40 mins from Hollywood so I have TM, Mesa, an many others within 30-40 miles

It just occurred to me I have traveled 7000 miles once though business was the main emphasis for the trip.

Wow, I'm the odd man out; I can hardly remember the last time I went to an actual store.

I rely on internet to keep me up to speed on what's of interest to me and order online, used or new.

Elderly is an hour away - for guitars. Motor City Guitar is 90 minutes - for great boutique pedals and amps.

I go maybe 3 times a year to each place.

20 to 30 miles, i dont go very much anymore, none of the stores excite me anymore and unless i need strings or im bored i dont go.

I sometimes go to a guitar store that is 3 countries away. Just for the sake of going to that store :). Luckily Europe's not all that big and the entire journey is 400miles. I only do this 2 times a year though.
Other shops I regularly go to are: 30miles, 80miles, and 200 miles. (all round trips).

Unfortunately, only the farthest one is a REAL guitar store (musicstore.de)
