So I dont really dislike these two on the same level as others, but Im a million miles away when it comes to taste and playing style.

This time they're trying to limit themselves to just using one OD pedal.

I think this is an exercise in futility. Just buy more Pedals...its better!

I agree, I like dan and mick and think they do the youtube thing correctly, but obviously I don't play this tan pants style of music

Whether I need more than one OD depends on the OD and also the amp I'm using

In my gigging rig? I only need the airis nebula and the engl lead and rhythm channel

With a lower gain amp? Yeah I will generally use two OD pedals.

I play tan pants music and usually only use one OD pedal but count on getting some gain from the amp, otherwise I gotta dial up more gain from the pedal. My final strat rig I was using I stacked a couple Rockett Blue Notes to get the lead tone and just used one for rhythm.

For sure, this is entirely dependent on which OD pedal, as well as the rest of your rig, as well as what kind of music you are playing

With the right amp I could get away with no od pedal - i've played a handful that didn't need one at all

generally speaking, stacking ODs can sound great but you have to be really judicious with the amount of gain youre using from each source. Just like when you stack an OD on top of a dirty amp

Honestly there's the volume consideration as well. I swear like 90% of "tone advice" comes from people who play their amps at like TV in the living room volume, which checks out as to why it's unusable in most actual guitar contexts

Agreed. You gotta choose the right OD's otherwise it's just a damn mess.

How you enjoying that Airis btw? That thing looks incredible.

These 2 CAKS have jumped the shark many years ago.
They simply ran out of subject matter.

Mick couldn’t dial in a pedal if it had one knob on it. Whenever he touches a pedal, I turn it off immediately. He has absolutely no idea what he’s doing.
You need a King Tone Duellist V3,
Maybe one day in the future, these two taint lappers will feature that pedal.

I’ve come to like having two (or one of the dual units that essentially does the same thing) set one for more gain & another for less.

It’s handy for daily practicing in the few free minutes I have before work, to have a few different sounds on hand. I also like it for gigs or jam sessions with folks I don’t normally play with, that setup is a good way to find a tone I like, that isn’t interfering with the rest of the band.

That being said; for well rehearsed gigs or a band i play with frequently, I’m perfectly happy with one.

Yes, I have been watching that one for a while. That and the Gladio.

It's the best "heavy metal" style OD that i've ever owned. for sure

Dude is coming out with a smaller version without the FX loop IO, but im not interested in the new one

The control over the depth, presence, and perceived volume from the loop is one of my favorite things about the NAO - that combined with control over the clipping and low end into the preamp makes it basically the be-all end-all of chugga chugga overdrives IMO

The airis and the KSR eros are the best overdrives for the heavy stuff ive ever owned full stop - the KSR does the same thing as the airis but with less control and a much smaller footprint

Basically with the NAO you can use it to behave like an 808, a klon, a TC pre, any type of boost you want

I have the V2, but the V3 is even better. It’s capable of a variety of sounds and the stacking ability is great. You can go from SRV to Trower and everything in between.
If you stack it, can it do VH?

Sounds pretty versatile really. Those are all solid choices for tan pants music as well.

Is it a fully proprietary circuit or are the drives based off something else? I been using a Gladio SC clone Waynzo made me for gigs where I can crank the amp but still love my Rockett Blue Note as well. I'm told the Blue Note is a highly modded bluesbreaker pedal but no idea whether that's true or not and the Gladio is supposed to copy a dumble but Dan Travis says my tone still sounds like a BF fender which I guess makes sense since I'm using a twin.

You could certainly play Van Halen. I don’t know if it’s gonna sound close to Van Halen, but the gain ability is there.
Yeah, but I'd say you'd probably F-up all your other tones, it would be like one useable setting, and you could just buy a plexidrive I guess.

I've got a dual drive that has a Wampler plexi on one side and a Hermida Zen Drive on the other .... does VH all day long

One side is Tube Screamer. The other side is Bluesbreaker, but many variables on both sides.

I usually use none.

Live I usually plug straight in. Occasionally a wah and modulation pedal.

I have a few overdrive pedals and what one I use very much depends on the other gear used.

I am thinking about putting a pedal board together with a overdrive, boost, distortion, fuzz, compressor in the loop of the Zuul+. Basically covering everything.

Dan & Mick unlike much of YouTube have not been blocked.
