My band recently recorded an EP of our songs in a professional studio. We want to put our music online and wondering what you guys would recommend?

We are not trying to make it big, make money, etc. We are all older and do this for fun and just want to have our music available online for people to check out. I'm probably going to get it up on SoundCloud but would like it to be on the typical music platforms.

Appreciate it!

Is there any sites I should not have a service send the music to? I heard that sometimes people.will just upload directly to FB, Instagram, etc.

I don't see why not. The more reached the better in my opinion. Distrokid covers most places, the only ones that I can think of that it does not is Bandcamp.

Of course you have to handle your own personal accounts like Facebook and Instagram but it's hard getting views on those places in my opinion.

So far for me the best thing I have done are putting short clips on tick tock and there is a genre specific promotional YouTube channel that we had our song uploaded on and it got probably 30x more views than our own channel did so far.

My band use Distrokid and it's pretty straightforward to use.

If there are any issues though, they only have an AI chat bot to answer your queries, which isn't helpful if your issue isn't a frequently asked question. Getting hold of an actual human is quite a task in itself.

Just curious if folks recommending distrokid have any reasons why they suggest that over the other distributors?

I am starting to sift through the mud of youtube videos but many of these are "sponsored" by the distributor they are pushing, so worthless.

Thanks.

I recommend CDBaby. One time payment and the song stays released forever. No recurring costs. Plus I think Distrokid has terms in there where they can use your music to train AI.

I’ve used CDBaby for 18 years and the first songs I released back in 2008 are still out there in every platform, not bad for a few dollars one time payment.

I have a checklist for release, I’ll send it to you

That does seem like the better deal, Distrokid offers similar......for a premium

My band plays live on the internet often. Not sure what format. We are converting to a AI band so not sure where it is going next.

I did hear that CDBaby is having some issues now and taking longer to put songs up, etc.

I really think it is probably one of those things where can't really go wrong with either. The cost is so low that if you don't like one, could always go to the other.

Has been a pretry easy process so far with Distrokid and no complaints. Definitely have to take your time and make sure you are getting everything accurate before uploading but is easy
