I cut it down to two electrics...

I’m listing stuff at give away prices and still can’t move anything
That could be your problem. List it at higher prices or people think what you are selling is somehow defective. It's worth a shot. I know it sounds weird but I had a Viper listed at rock bottom and couldn't get a bit just one ultra lowball offer that was laughable. I raised it by two hundred bucks and it sold a week or two later.

I just sold some guitars to get a Martin D-28. I'm starting to focus on a certain group of guitars and happy with a small stable. A few Les Pauls and then a Strat, Charvel, Chubtone, etc.

A dude yesterday told me he had accumulated over 150 guitars and was trying to get it down to under 100. I can't imagine dealing with that many instruments. Just the space alone required to store them...it'd be like a whole bedroom in a house.

I used to have a box of pickups and of other pedals but I went through it all and sold everything. If it doesn't get used, I don't need it. All I possess for guitar gear now is critical moneymaking items. Mainly redundant stuff in case something breaks. Two ES', two Twin Reverbs, etc. Even my wife sold off a bunch of her guitars. Now if I could just get her to get rid of her guitar strap and boot collection it'd be 100% handled, LOL.

Jebus, I have like around 20 and I'm thinking I want to sell at least half of them.

Downsize?

I keep 2 electrics in each bathroom. Never know when inspiration may strike.
Watch out for the pickguard....

I apply this to everything. Guns, guitars, tools.
It’s a good mindset to have, the more you have of something the less satisfied you become in my experience.

My fleet would be smaller had I been gigging when I started buying guitars. I have 2 Gibson LPs and a heritage h150 that I’ll take to rehearsal but not gigs. I would of purchased an Eastman LP or PRS SE 594 and saved myself a few thousand dollars.

A necessary mindset when funds are limited.

I refuse to own anything that I wouldn't take to a gig. I guess if it required airline travel, or was in an excessively seedy area that might stop me but even if I had a 10k guitar I would gladly wear the finish off it gigging it regularly. That's what it was built for. I despise when an item meant to serve a purpose turns into some sacred cow and can no longer be used for what it was intended for. I guess outside of the "making money on this hobby" the whole collector thing is lost on me.

I didn't realize you were friends with Kyle Bull.

I have way too much gear, but I enjoy it. I plan to start selling much of it in a few years. especially guitars and tube amps; then there are keyboards too. Unfortunately, modern digital keyboards lose significant value when new replacement models are released, similar to digital modelers.

When I find a guitar I like, I tend to get a few of the same model (e.g., my fav guitar is the EBMM Kaizen 6, I currently have 5).

If I like a guitar, I usually keep it or I end up buying another again eventually

One of the guitars I just purchased is a MIJ mid-60s spec Fender Jaguar; at one time I had three Jags, a Vintera, an older MIJ and a Marr sig. Sold them all, and then recently missed having a Jag.

At one time, I had around 8-9 Rics, now I'm down to 1 Ric 6-string guitar (330 Fireglo), and a 4003 (fireglo) bass.

Had some customs issues, but finally got the guitar, shipped from Japan: 2026 Fender MIJ Traditional Late '60s Jag in Lake Placid Blue.

Well...you know my thoughts on jags already but I will say the Schaller F tuners are probably the best tuner ever to be factory installed on a Fender.
