Let's see some PRS pics and share your stories about them

Interesting. Next to my recent '24 ES335 the wide thin profile has been problably favorite profile I've ever laid hands on. Haven't tried a wide-fat though.

I'd really like to get an SE custom 24 or a Santana model. I can pretty much stick any neck width/thickness save for 2x4's but I find a wider board a little easier to maneuver on and really loved that wide thin profile. It didn't feel "thin" to me at all.

I have not had very good luck with Duncan pickups in general but I got an Edwards LP with the '59 in the neck hoping it would rival or exceed the 57 classics I loved so much. Man, talk about disappointment.

As for PRS I liked the 85/15's, they sounded really nice. Fat n warm without being muddy. A PRS is basically my next guitar purchase, even if it's only an SE. My only complaint was the tuners, while functional and held tune just fine, left a little to be desired in the feeling department. I'd probably upgrade them to the lightweight models.

Have you looked at the SE Hollowbodies at all? I thought we talked about them, but I can't remember.

Different strokes! If you dig it then that's all that matters for you. I don't like the Wide Thin neck because to my hands it's both too thin in the middle and they gave it a D shape so the neck has more shoulders than it feels like it should. That combo just feels bad to me. I get what they were doing, they wanted a thin neck profile but didn't want to diminish the sound with a small neck so they kept the shoulders big in hopes that the extra mass would mean more resonance. I can respect the intent behind the design but unfortunately the feel of that neck in particular just doesn't match my hands at all.

For what it's worth, my personal favorite neck profile is a slightly-thicker-than-medium profile in a C shape. Thinner C's are ok too. I just can't do D shapes though, too much shoulder always feels wrong. I'd rather put my hands on a V than a D any day (giggity). PRS's Wide Fat necks are great. The PRS Pattern is also great as it's the closest current production equivalent to the old Wide Fat profile. The DGT neck uses a unique profile and that's the one that disappears in my hands the fastest though. Seriously the DGT might be the best guitar PRS makes.
I'm pretty happy with any neck tbh I just find slightly beefier '59 or C shape usually nets a little more beef/sustain/tone and stability. I love the three piece PRS uses on the SE's, to me that's just a premium feature and requires less fiddling, especially on thinner necks.

Noted on the DGT, and thanks, I'll look for that model around. I should go catch him next time he plays out at the Devil's backbone tavern. He's out there now and again. I don't think the cover is too exorbitant and it's not far from my place.

No I haven't but wish I could check one out. Might require a trip to Austin to find one as GC New Braunfels can be slim pickings on the PRS offerings. Per some videos the latest edition SE (nearly 2k, ugh) has a larger body than the previous model by about an inch or so, which is kind of interesting to me since a 335 size is my jam.

I was watching a barely used red core model on Reverb for about a week and someone snagged it cause it was under 4k asking price, like 3.8k or make offer. Not bad compared to what I usually see ten top hollowbodies go for. One of these days Neuby!!!

I missed out on the HB cores when they were around $3k used (or even less). I regret not grabbing one prior to covid.
I'm debating on getting an SE HB as I have the D'Angelico which is pretty nice (it's same size as a 339).

I've listened to some HBII vs 335 demos and they are fairly close but the 335 seems to have a little extra something. Could've just been the specific guitars, as 335's and semi hollows can vary widely. Just not sure if I want to pay a bunch of $ for a repeat in a smaller package. The custom 24's are tempting cause even though I am a blues player I like being able to reach the high C scale up there and the sustain is LP like. The Santana is tempting cause, well, you can buy the boots to match it lol.

This guy is def nailing the Carlos tone with his SE, maybe slightly darker since he's using bare fingers at first.

This was my SE CU24. It was pretty nice.

After stopping playing, had 0 gear in 2016. This Artist V is the first guitar I acquired when getting back to playing.

The green is a Throwback when GC had a limited run years ago. The quilt is 1991, the last year PRS had Braz boards as the default on Custom 24s. Acquired both these via Reverb.

Was trying to trade this PRS Floyd on here, for a lower value guitar posted on CL, dealing with an obtuse dude.

Anyhoo, all the PRSs are in storage as I don't play PRS anymore.

You still have the green one?

I love looking at them, but man they're soooo expensive.
I know it. 10-15k....crazy but beautiful. I was looking at the Orianthi lotus....like 14k used on the low end, lol. It'd be nice to buy one and then gig the shit out of it until the paint is all worn through, the back is all rashed out...instead of them just being case queens and dentist guitars. Horrify all the dudes down at your attorneys office when you pull it out the case LMAO.

I've been listening to some SE custom 24 blues clips....I could live with that for a blues jam axe for sure.....

If I got a PS, I'd definitely want one to play the living daylights out of. I see some on GC used and get tempted to go trade like 3 or 4 guitars for one, but I always chicken out.

Fortune favors the bold. If I ever sell this place I kinda planned on dumping about 10k into gear, 1k for every year I busted my ass building it. I figured 5k could go into a nice PRS but that barely puts me in the running for the higher end stuff. And if I moved I wouldn't have a band to gig it with so it'd just be an expensive couch guitar, LOL.

If I could get decent prices for the guitars I'd be willing to let go of, I'd definitely have enough for a used PS. But, it'd also be a couch guitar, because I don't have a band, either.

You could start hitting law offices and dental practices looking for bandmates.

Lately been eyeballing this Santana on reverb for $4200.The pink one with the blue back sold for 5.2k in a week...

That thing is pretty.
The green grew on me. The pink n blue was cooler though. I notice anything core, PS or wood reserve fairly priced or with a hard to find color gets snapped up quick. I recently read PRS core models generally have a higher resale % vs other brands. Seems to hold true just watching reverb.
