I brought home a Custom 24 SE last fall but wound up returning it a couple days later because I wanted a 2nd gigging 335 and had found an amazingly nice one for cheap (in Gibson prices). Everything about the Custom 24 was awesome. Fretwork, pickups, neck profile....my only minor complaint was the tuners didn't feel great but they held tune just fine. The QC on all the axes I had tried was excellent and I really dug the necks on everything I handled. Some of them were way outta my price range but even the more affordable axes were nice!

I'm thinking my next blues jam axe is gonna be a PRS so I been browsing again. Depending on how things work out maybe this month....maybe next year but I wanna start getting info from actual players not youtube shills. Thanks to those who decide to post up!!!

I have a couple, a beautiful Custom 24, and a Silver sky.

On paper, they are both fantastic guitars. Play great, sound great, but both of the feel like something is missing. I can't quite put a finger on it, but I never really feel compelled to pick either up.

The Silver Sky has a fat neck that I can't bond with, Ive tried since I bought it but my hand will cramp after a short time trying to play it, and not the typical overly large hand cramp more like trying to play a V neck guitar hand cramp.

The Custom 24, I find more enjoyment looking at it than playing it, maybe its too pretty and I dont want to scratch it up? I dunno. I do know I am not a huge fan of how its carved at the edge with the binding, I know thats just a little thing but it does bother me.

My old gibson les.paul was like that. The tuners felt weird as shit, but that guitar never went out of tune. My junior has flawless tuners though

Here's an old picture of my first PRS. Bought it new back in 2001. It's still one of my main guitars and usually the one I grab when I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to be playing at a jam. It'll cover anything and just feels like an old friend. This has the wide-thin neck, which feels great to me. I like it much better than the wide-fat or whatever they're calling it these days.

I really liked the original HFS pickup, but it started squealing after about 15 years. So, I replaced both with a set of BKP Crawlers. Just perfect for this one, not too hot, but not too mild, either, and can just scream when I want them to. I upgraded the tuners a few years later just because I liked the newer PRS tuners better, the originals still worked fine but are not quite as easy to restring. Not long after I got it, I replaced the original black speed knobs with gold ones, and changed the black pickup rings to gold metal. Just liked the look and still do. Other than that, it's as I got it.

I have acquired several over the years. They play so good, feel great and I like the 25” scale length better than 25.5”. I’ve thought about selling one many times but then I play it and think no way so they’ve just accumulated.

Latest is a 40th Anniversary CU24

1996 ce24, local marketplace score that I thought I would flip. That was 10 years ago….

Always wanted to own a PRS, wasn’t gonna pay $3k for one. This pops up for $800 and I decided it was worth a go. The look and feel grew on me quickly, but I didn’t love the sound of the stock HFS/VB pickups or the stupid rotary switch.

Then I tried it with a 3 piece band, and it just filled in the mix like magic. Had a 3 way toggle put in & played it every gig for about four years.

Outside of that particular band, I couldn’t get on with the stock pickups. Recently I finally swapped them out for Suhr Thornbuckers & I’m loving it all over again.

I think I've had this 4 years or so now ...

My old lady likes to play the slots at Foxwoods with her friends once in a while .... every time she would go I would always say to her " If you hit it big stop by Guitar Center on the way home and pick me out something nice "

Well I got home from work one day and this was waiting for me .... CE24 ..... I ripped out the wiring and pickups and installed a Super Distortion in the bridge and a Steve Morse sig neck ... in Dubbel Creamz with black pole pieces

Well here we go. The only logical step after this is a James Tyler.

2002 CE24

Pretty nice guitar. I loved the snap of bolt on and a maple neck. Hated the clouding in the finish. Got rid of it for that exact reason. Clouding was starting on the front of the guitar. Shame.

2018 DW CE24

I like dustie. tomahawk gen 1 > gen 2. Shame he's moved to cheap import guitars made by the korean guys that make agile guitars.

2023 DW CE24 Hardtail

ditto above. this one's on the chopping block for reasons stated above.

2021 Tremonti

This guitar was actually Fluff's. One of the nicest singlecuts I've ever played. I Seymour Duncan Antiquity JB in the bridge made it sound mean as piss.

93 CU24

Easily one of the shittiest guitars I've ever owned. It's come a long way. Phase 1 Tuners had a mounting flaw, had to replace with hipshot. Nut was terrible, replaced with graphtech. Still wouldn't stay in tune, installed an evertune. Went through 2 dozen or more pickups, still sounded dark and muddy. Got it refinished with Nitro by some schmuck in CT, he did an absolute piss poor job and I barely want to touch the thing. I recently installed EMG 81/89R in it and it sounds incredible.

I tried quite a few back in my flipping days, liked the McCarty’s best (had a burst McTrem I should have never sold). Also really liked the Swamp Ash Special for a little more snap.

Every one was great, they make a quality guitar.

Picked up this black DGT with moons back in 2012, it has the mojo. I swapped out the stock neck pickup for a Smit’s I think (stock was too wooly) but that’s it.

Ive gigged it a ton and all the hardware is starting to patina from sweat and beer 🤘

I think dicks on the fretboards may be less offensive than birds
I never liked them but learned Paul's mother was an avid birdwatcher so it's his tribute to her. Once in a while someone does something that earns my respect and that was one of those times.

Some awesome looking axes in here. Thread is delivering already!

Still waiting for @Music&Chaos to post his beautiful red PRS.

I (maybe egregiously?) wanted to see if a PRS McCarty could do metal. I bought this maybe 2006 or so? Took it to my luthier and explained. He laughed and did it anyways. It was my main stage guitar for maybe 3 years? Totally worked in drop C. Same hardware, same pickups, all of it. PRS are fuckin workhorses. Don’t ever let anyone tell you different. That guitar got BEAT.

My interest is in them is two fold. To have a great solid body guitar for my couch jamming time and to piss off guys at blues jams who hate anything that isn't a Fender or Gibson. I might even have to get one of the multi-color models just to rub it in more.

The Custom 24 SE I brought home overnight had the wide thin neck. I didn't really see it as thin, it was actually an ideal neck to me. As good as the Gibson '59 carve I like so much on my ES' except slightly wider in feel. The neck was one of my favorite parts of the guitar. Amazing actually.

Really can’t see the guys that buy Gibson/Fender getting pissed off at a dentist guitar lol

I had a lot of guys that played guitar come up to me after metal shows being shocked at my tone coming from that guitar.

Couch guitar? FOR SURE

Well....I have an nice Edwards LP for the moment but in central Texas LP's are probably the most popular guitar to see at a jam besides a telecaster. You'd think with the whole SRV thing that you'd see an ocean of strats but there are usually only one or two and one of them is a great player from L.A whose strat is a JAMES TYLER GUITAR not a Fender.

The last time I saw a PRS at a blues jam here was in 2011 and the dude playing it was one of those dudes who wears shorts but no shoes on stage, lol. I have a quite a few friends in the blues world here so a nice PRS would take them by surprise. I showed up with a LTD Viper a few times but I need something with a fatter tone that doesn't resemble a Gibson and actually has decent factory pickups and the 85/15's or whatever they are called seemed to deliver the goods.

Hopefully this works.

My first PRS was this CU24. I traded 2 Les Paul Classics for it.

This 594 is my second. I traded 2 guitars for it (which I regret, so I won't get into it).

This 594SC is my third. I bought it for my bday back in 2017

This CU22 is my fourth. I found it on GC used in almost mint condition. It's a one off according to the PRS guys I emailed.

I have a Silver Sky (fifth) and an NF53 (sixth), but don't have pics of them at the moment. I also had an SE CU24 somewhere along the line, but I sold it. I can't remember if I got it before or after the CU22.
