i may the only one who thinks this, but I actually loved lynch's lead tone on the first record. I think the old German reverb plates in Dieter Dierics studio create that "chamber" like effect that is a perfect tone marriage with a cranked old Super Lead. ..similar to Uli Roth's recordings on Scorps In Trance and Virgin Killer.

O.K., you're not the only one that thinks that ... !

I had a first gen SPX-90 that had a Plate Rev present that could really nail that hollow chamber effect ....

I've been searching for that sound ever since I sold it ....

This thread has gone alot better than the Gilbert thread, I make one comment about Lynch there and all hell broke loose :hys: :hys: :hys: :hys:

For real! Now we just need the thread that rips on Warren Dimartini and the Rig-Talk Tri-fecta has been covered

I agree. I dig that old tone.
Me as well.....

Listened to "Just got Lucky" yesterday and that little "Soloish lick" that he puts in between the versus....
AWESOME!!!
Soaked with Reverb or something....VERY WET sounding.
But very well placed! ;)

I'm not talking about Tooth and Nail, but Breaking the Chains. Amazing Lead tone and actually one of my favorite Lynch solo's. He's actually speaking..

Seems like I read Lynch and Scorps make comments about Marshall's sounding better at 220v... I guess that settles it - we all gotta move to a different country or up our standard to 220V

He needs to go back to the SLO.
IDK...did you listen to Lugo's amp shootout? Lynch's SLO sounded like a big bucket of ass IMO...kind of a mess compared to most of the others in its catagory.

Nope. Haven't heard it. Whatever SLO Lynch played through sounded killer, that's all I know.

I saw him earlier this year. His tone was lacking, and he appeared to be fighting the guitar all night long. His other guitarist had killer tone. It was really embarrassing to watch.

GLPG that was awesome..

id never survive a metallica concert - id die of perfect pitch obsession torture, ice-picky tone on top of terrible playing, and over the top over-wah effects

So true! Kirk Hamster has the worst vibrato in the game, drives me insane. Always flat and lifeless.. he also has no concept of staying in key.. Perhaps only Zakk can best him in the drowning in a sea of wah and chorus..Demartini is untouchable. The guy still has chops, phrasing, and class when he plays. He naturally has all the best elements of Lynch/VH/Shenker if you ask me. (with none of the substance abuse problems or tone problems) I think he keeps it simple: bit of chorus, delay, amp.

What is Demartini playing these days for an amp?
Still the SLO/VH4 combo?

Coming from you and the gentleman you are, speaks volumes. I think an intervention is in order.

I think Demartini is primarily back to the SLO's but there is likely a Diezel still worked in there somewhere..

Lynch and the SLO are both legendary. Each will do fine, even with an occasional slag on a metal forum. Good days, bad days, meh... Both have been a part of some kick ass epic tunes.

Long Live Lynch

Just like my OP says.."I love you George Lynch."

BTW I don't think you are accusing me of slagging George.

My favorite guitarist of all time!! I just prefer his tone on UL&K, Back For The Attack and the first Lynch Mob CD's. His tone and playing on the prementioned works are phenomenal.

I hear him get put down on metal forums in this case I am only slagging his preamp (gain) level and his phaser :) NOT HIM! :)

With the current availabilty of video cameras and YT, no one can have a bad night and be safe anymore..lol.
All our heroes have onions on YT, although it shows the human side of everyone, I kinda preferred the "mystique" of guitar heros back before YT.

Everyone has sucked during live shows but we didn't notice as much because we didn't have the opportunity to listen to the show as instant replay. We had adrenaline, excitement and sometimes substances that took us even farther from reality.

I remember the days when you picked up a new record album...you couldn't wait to open it up and see the inside covers...half the time you didn't even know what the band looked like until you saw them live. There's something to be said about the "good old days".

He used a Randall RG80 on that record didn't he? Along with some sort of Peavey. Am I nuts or didn't I read that somewhere?
