I am starting to lean towards waiting, saving up some more $$$ and going nuts and getting the Friedman Kitchen sink, add a clean channel, fx loop, sat switch on a ceriatone plexi or a Fortin Cali mod....... hmmmm

Rig-Talk, What say ye??

seriously man....

go titan, jvm, or qr.

the titan is one of the best sounding amps i've heard in years... especially for the money. the clean channel is amazing as well. the mid contour knob on the back is also one of the best shaping devices i've ever heard on an amp.

having said that... i love the JVM because it can do everything well. blues, pop rock, metal, cleans of all sorts. if i lost the jvm i'd get another immediately. it is THE studio amp imo.

splawn if you want the boutiquey vibe and a little different flavor.

Titan, one of the best (if not the best) amp I've ever owned..... PERIOD.

Mako Makoplex....single channel but F'n AWESOME.

There are just so many choices idk wtf to do..... I was just concerned that the Titans have too much gain too quick on the lead channel, which I have talked to zach about numerous times..

JVM is also appealing...

I didn't really notice that when i played it. he can drop two clean channels and one lead into a 3 channel though (i assume). The clean channel is a great crunch channel too.

I have had a few Marshalls in my day. Including a JVM. The best high-gain tone I have ever had is what I play through now, which is a 1981 2203 with a "homemade" Soldano Hot Mod.

the 800 is one of the all time greats... he needs a clean channel though. i love my 2204.
For the money we're talking, around $2000, he could get a 2204, boost it, for cleans run a Roland JC120, A/B/Y switch.

Looks like I'm gonna have another chat with Zach about a Titan.....
And a chat with Andrew about a Mako. Maybe a Mak2 Makoplex?? hmm

If I could get the crunch switch on a titan footswitchable, that could act as a mid-gain dirty rhythm channel and still have that sick OD channel for higher gain rhythm and leads....

bump for night crew...

Just talked to zach briefly, no go on the footswitchability for crunch switch. I could do a mak2 makoplex, JVM, VH100R, Titan or modded marshall.....

The makoplex and Titan sound crazy good and the JVM and VH100R are not far behind

Looks sweet. Info please
I believe my PlexRod might be just what you are looking for. The "Plex" mode is basically identical to a '69 Marshall Super Lead Plexi circuit. The "Rod" mode is like a hot-rodded JCM800 - way more gain, but still all the characteristic Marshall roar. The "Zen" mode simply replaces the normal pre-phase inverter master with a Jose Master (popularized by Jose Arredondo through his great Marshall mods) - it has a different placement in the circuit and includes diode clipping - adds gain and also reduces volume - great for soloing. All three modes have independent masters so you can balance the volume for live use when switching between the modes. All modes and the effects loop can be switched via footswitch. You can also turn the amp into a straight screaming '69 Plexi by setting "Plex" mode and turning both the Plex gain and master on full. You can adjust the overall volume when doing this by adjusting the Post-Phase inverter master (PPIMV) on the back of the amp. I find that a good PPIMV does the best job of taming a screaming Plexi. Mine is done so that it is completely out of the circuit when it is cranked. You can also use the PPIMV to adjust the overall volume of the amp for live when switching between modes. The loop is switchable between series and parallel usage and there is also a line out for those who like to run stereo effects and separate amps and cabs in W/D or W/D/W arrangements. Everything you need for monster Marshall tone - both modded and straight in one amp and all footswitchable!

I should finish the prototype in a week or two (waiting for some choice resistors). I have spared no expense in bringing killer tone to this amp. I'm using the best components available including Riken resistors (carbon comp's sweet tone without the drift and noise), PRP resistors, Solen and Sozo vintage caps, etc.

Lets make this more difficult...

I just heard a killer cut from Granger amps. I was checking out their Lead 100, and they have a killer marshall type amp too. Right around $1700.

I am open to all suggestions. I'll go check it out right now

You can buy Splawn Quickrods for 1250-1400.00 all the time. Good clean, and sound great for the tones you're looking for. IMHO.

Steve..... I think I speak for all of us when I say WE WANT CLIPS lol...

I don't wanna say too much right now but Zach is coming out with a re-designed Titan..... and it will be sick. Don't wanna give out too much info because none of its final yet but all I can tell you is it will have a good tube loop and eq for each channel. and maybe a contour knob for each channel.. maybe. He mentioned something about an option for dual lead channels voiced differently..... none of this is final yet tho.

The Titan is looking pretty good right now...
