bump for night crew...

Just talked to zach briefly, no go on the footswitchability for crunch switch. I could do a mak2 makoplex, JVM, VH100R, Titan or modded marshall.....

The makoplex and Titan sound crazy good and the JVM and VH100R are not far behind

Why not just get the 3 channel titan? that's all footswitchable, no?

Granted you stated Marshall so I'd go with the JVM 4 channel...had one since they came out and I've not had GAS one bit. It's even suprised me as I've been through about everything over the last decade both boutique and production wise. Even let stuff go ala VHT and Splawn because I preferred the JVM. Done numerous sessions, rehearsals and over 300 shows the last 2 years and couldn't be happier. Never a problem either. As a comparison...I am not a fan of the DSL series.

If I went the modded route it would be the Friedman stuff...it's pretty incredible sounding.

Of course it's hard to beat a 2204 and a good pedal.

As for the non-Marshall...I'd like to hear the Titan stuff but frankly I've just not had the GAS.

Laney stuff...very under rated amps. Little different vibe than Marshall obviously but I thoroughly enjoyed my little GH50L many years ago. Great little stock hot rodded amp.

Splawn...great stuff. Enjoyed mine while I had them. Scott makes some great stuff.

Just my opinion.

The cerberus is $2600

The MKII Titans might have an option for different voiced dual lead channels (push pull pots on clean channel and lead channel giving u 2 diff lead channels)... I'm in the process of talking with zach about what I should do. But the cerberus does sound like exactly what I needed.... but it's 2600 and a need a new cab too. Idk what to do... prolly just save a spring for a cerberus... or just go for the JVM or VH100R.

Fuck this is hard....

What about a Suhr PT100 or a Peters? I know you can pick up the PT 100 for around two grand if you look. There were two that went on ebay for around that a few weeks ago.

Is it finished?? Did I miss something?

bump for morning crew...

After all of this thinking I really wonder if the is such a drastic difference in the tones of a Makoplex or Titan as opposed to the JVM or VH100R...... probably not that much. hmm..

I think the Marshall jube is a good choice or a quickrod.

Not to spam, but mine. Im selling my Hotrodded JMP for $1200. :scared: ;)

other than that, I suggest a 2203KK.

Seriously, man...OD1 orange on the JVM is 80's hotrodded Marshall heaven. My JVM chewed up and spit out a Mako Mak2 Dorado in a room full of amp snobs.

Now, let the JVM bashers do their thing. :gethim:

Shameless plug for my Cameron High Gain Jose Mig in the classifieds. Single channel and no loop, but cleans up very well with guitar volume. I actually have a 2 channel Cameron as well, and find myself rolling off the volume more than switching the channel on the 2 channel amp! Loop could be added someday with the metroamp loop kit (think they are around $100 for the parts) - Mark has said in the past that circuit was a good one.

All other things aside Cameron's have that tone you are looking for - esp for the bands you listed since that is the type of stuff I love and the tone's I have chased for over 20 years. Even if you don't buy mine for sale that's what I'd look for - my 2 cents. There's a reason Mark's stuff is so highly sought after.

Surprise surprise, but here's another vote for the VH100R! Great cleans, blues is easy to be had and the higher gain stuff is great. They're very affordable and readily available, so this is where my vote is.

It truly is...love that channel. But the amp's got so much more...that's why the 4 channel is the way to go. Damn thing tracks great in the studio and I've run it through dozens of cabs and it always sounds great. Live? It's a dream. I'm still amazed that some on here knock the amp...I really am. Doesn't matter to me though...I've have NEVER gone this long without amp gas in nearly 20 years...and even though I grew up playing 2204's and 2203's I avoided Marshall like the plague since about 93 until the JVM.

Lol...sorry dude...however you accidentally delete a post I just did...I kept hitting no and nothing was happening so I just hit yes. Oh well.

Anyway, that was Perfect Marshall tone...and I guess I do know now that it was the Bloody Murder. Man...2203's and 2204's sound lovely with a good OD. Well done sir.

Baron custom amps can build you probably pretty much anything ya want..
check them out.price and value is amazing and the builder is really great to work with

No bashing here Jason. My other guitar player has a JVM and the only thing I can honestly say I dislike about it is the horrible GAS I get 2x a week when we rehearse. Damn that thing sounds great.

Thanks for the help dudes.... I would really like to find a JVM and VH100R that I could play before I buy anything.... GC might have a JVM. I have achance to snag a voodoo platinum modded JVM for a good price.....

Just another question, what kind of speakers do you JVM and VH100R guys like to use??? Greenbacks? GT-75's? I was thinking about using my avatar 2x12 and putting in some warehouse guitar speakers (ET-65's).

some may disagree with me, but some of my fav tones out of the JVM come through a stock 1960B cab with gt-75s. However, I would generally give the nod to a cab loaded with greenies.

Case in point

I run mine through one or two GT-75 loaded cabs and for recording a Greenback loaded cab. Sounds great through both. Now I have basically hated 75's with any other amp but with the JVM...sounds fantastic.

I've also ran the amp through VHT cabs, 5150III cabs, Orange, 5150 cabs, Splawns loaded with Heritage 70's, Mesa's, Marshall's w/vintage 30's, Bog's...really the only speaker I haven't liked with the amp is the GK100 that was loaded in an oversized Marshall.
