The Dumble clone was definitely a Ceriatone with different transformers. I thought Carl said he pieced together the Trainwreck - I'll find out for sure  !

You weren't drinking so I'll go with your recollection.

I know all about PTs, but in a new amp, I wouldn't see why the PT wouldn't be operating and spec'd right...

Steve

Standard upgrade on those Ceriatone Wreck kits is to replace both OT / PT at the same time, usually with Toneslut Trannies....seems to get them closer to actual tones of the KF Wrecks. Other guys are using Heyboer or Pacifics if they can get them as these are specd closer. Now that you're a bonified Amp Class Graduate you need to start hanging out at the Amp Garage and sidle up to Allyn Meyers ;)

Wow man, prices on those Toneslut Trannies is awesome!

All I can say is, my bone stock Ceriatone Liverpool 'wreck sounds awesome. :) The express kit I'm building is going to have stock transformers too, I really think stock sounds great. Just my opinion.

How did Dave friedmans angry hippy mod sound?

That amp is insane. EXTREME gain but retains clarity like no other amp I've ever heard. If I were more a metal player, I'd be all over that amp.

Yeah, that very well could be - as cheap as those transformers and Nik's kits are, I'd be willing to start stock then change trannies if I was curious enough.
