I'm shocked to hear the Fireball 100 has issues cutting

It cuts man....... That guy probably wasnt used to the low mids...... I read in another thread that He was saying he normally uses a Mesa MarkIV, that amp has a ton of upper mids and not that much lower mids. Anyway I used the Fireball100 and the other guitarist in my band was using 5150II and the Fireball 100 still cut. Other amps like the Savage would cut more but the FB100 isnt bad.. Now if you want to talk about Engls that do not cut then lets talk about the Fireball60 or the version 1 and 2 powerballs.

Yeah the Fireball 100 cut thru ok.
The only reason I sold mine off was that it was a SUPERB METAL AMP hands down....
but for the Rock stuff it didnt do it all that good.
But then who buys an Engl for rock?
It really was a stiff amp but it was a Metal machine.
Preffered my old Invader 150 over it though.

I only sold mine cause I wanted more versatility.
If all we played was metal.........that was a great amp.

Love the Savage and Blackmore Engls. Had my Blackmore for a few years now and I can't see it ever leaving.

Had the Savage and isnt the Blackmore and the Savage have the same Gain voice/structure?

I have an Engl gigmaster 15 enroute. Will post a review and clips when I can. Its the baby of the Engl family, but I hope it is good. I have been very impressed with what little I have heard of it.

Phil, the savage is a cool amp, I found it very noizy tho. didn't you had a PT-100 (or OD-100) after your VHT/Fryette ??

Aye, maybe I was just used to my Mark IV.

Nothing compares to it, although my JMP is doing a great job of being equally amazing, but different.

The Savage isn´t noisy with a good set of pre-amp tubes, Engl used to load their amps with Sovteks and JJs and they often would make the amp noisy, throw out the Sovteks for something better and noise will be gone.

Another thing, soundengineers LOVE the SAv120+V30 combination. We usually just put a SM57 or E609 in front of a V30 and be done, no need to EQ it on the board. I once had one of the best soundengineers in Belgium come up to me after a gig and he was amazed that he didn´t touch the guitar EQ once during the entire gig.

Thats great to hear. I've been looking at ENGL stuff, for once I've paid off my car It's really hard to find an amp that has it's EQ set where you want it in a live situation.

No, I never got the PT-100. It's a very cool amp and wish I had the money for it.
The Savage I tried was dead quiet so I gather it already had a good set of tubes in it.

Yeah, my main cab is Mesa traditional with V30 so it should be fine.
I'm going to bring my cab and try it before getting it.

Love my Savage 120, but have considered selling a few time - NOT anything with the amp - just cuz I am now only a bedroom guitarist.

Very versatile amp...
