Is this what you get when you order the "Tan pants supreme"?

the amount of pretense possessed by jazz guys (especially on TGP JFC) is unbelievable for the amount of shitty, awful music in the genre

Even if I don't like it, I can appreciate the talent of Django or Jaco or something like that

But this genre just has so much unmusical bullshit it's insane
I’ll check it out every now and then to see if I suddenly catch something I’ve been missing. The piano and rhythm guitar parts seem crazy hard. I don’t really like it but definitely respect the talent.

But when a guitar, horn or heaven help us all a bass starts to solo I’m always like WTF…it’s just running scales and clashing at times. The clashing is praised but most of the time I think it’s just running scales and occasionally hitting bad combos.

For me it’s somewhere in the middle of I just don’t get it and the emperor has no clothes on.

I'm pretty learned in music theory, and i think it's one of those situations where they play things that are "technically" correct, it just doesn't sound like music because they've lost touch with what music even is :dunno:

To them if something is good, it's good because of it's harmonic complexity; they've completely lost sight of what harmonic complexity is for - to make people feel things. When I hear some "learned" jazz guy run up and down some stupid scale that sounds like shit, the only thing I "feel" is the urge to listen to literally anything else on the planet.

I’ll literally purge my brain with something cool and heavy after every repeated attempt to figure out what I’m missing

You're not alone, man

If you ever want to torture yourself, search TGP for jazz guys soloing over backing tracks

It's simultaneously the funniest thing you will ever do and possibly the worst torture available at Guantanamo bay

My goal is to be a decent pentatonic wanker occasionally throwing in my own notes

Small ears and whatnot, ha ha

Lmao even worse than their 🐓🍖 🥪
Sandwiches!? 😳

Ever seen Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo bay? lol

too many notes; too many notes played fast, etc., are fine if the notes actually say something meaningful, in a musical context.

otherwise it's just technical prowess without meaning.

It's why some technical artists take awhile for me to appreciate musically; sometimes it takes longer to understand what they're saying.

IMO.

3:38 This is groundbreaking stuff

Reminds me of this clip

You wouldn't believe the amount of vile images I've had to suffer through to find the ones I use in my memes/funny pictures (I found this one awhile back, as is).

I made a meme once of a certain amp builder (who shall remain nameless), depicting him in an Epstein type scenario (I've never posted it, only shared it via PM, as it would violate the forum rules). I'm still waiting for the FBI to come knocking on my door, asking why I'm Googling images of blindfolded little girls & chloroform.

Yeesh. That was horrid. After hearing that, I need to cleanse my sonic palette.

This'll do it. Take it, Jeffrey!

Now you, Mr. Clarke!

I have a music degree, and this was embarrassing to watch. Bunch of people high on their own farts thinking they are going 'outside the box' by playing absolute nonsense. Saddens me but not surprised, as you can see it is an old professor leading the troupe who could not even play single notes that sound good. If you can't play single notes that are pleasing, nothing you play will sound good.

Posted a refresher in the vid above for some actual good jazz - Jody Fisher.
Nailed it!
