Is your current rig the best rig you've ever owned?

I've been hearing that the H&K Red Box has been the "Industry Standard" for years, but that was years ago, and I'm sure the technology may have improved. I'm anxious to hear what my setup sounds like going to a Bose PA out of the on-board Red Box on the TriAmp.

Someone once told me that the emulated out of the Marshall JVM is pretty good. I find that difficult to believe until I hear it for myself.

no.

far from it.

i own what i own today to get the job done. however guitar, effects, and amplifier wise i am a good $30,000 short of my goal. i have had the same "dream rig" designed for over 2 years now and it has not changed - on paper at least - just a very nice stereo L/R rig with two splawn cabinets. still need to finish building/designing an amplifier one off prototype, purchasing other amplifiers for versatility, and build the rack.

tone and ability will always be a problem for me. the second anyone says otherwise is the second they limit themselves.

Absolutely happy with my rig at the moment:

Haven't thought about changing anythin for a year and combined with this baby in the future, it will be perfect

easily!

Axefx Ultra > Fryette 2/90/2 > Fryette fatbottom 4x12

I've had this setup for about 9 months now. All i really need to do is swap out my GCP for an MFC101 so i can get rid of my floor tuner and swap out my Shure SLX wireless for a G90 and I'll be totally set.

This setup has proven to be 100% reliable at over 70 shows, It's compact and very clean with few connections, it has a fast pack up/pack down time and absolutely nails all the tones I need with little fuss. I only use one side of the 2/90/2 so if i have a tube failure on one of the channels i can easily just switch it over to the other side.

Might be a bit too bare-bones for some folk on this forum but for my application I really couldn't be happier with this rig.

Other guitarist in my band has just about the same setup but he uses an ENGL pro cab, The different cabs complement each other perfectly and both sound distinct whilst blending very well together. Our stage sound has been totally transformed and these rigs have proven to sound ridiculously good and consistent night in, night out.

EDIT: here's a crappy picture i took when i first got it, pedals are mounted on a Pedaltrain 2 with a Fueltank JR PSU and I have since swapped the rocktron utopia expression for a mission SP-1. I'll get a better snap of it shortly. As for guitars I am mostly using ibanez's for my band, namely an RGT320Q & JC-CM1 both loaded with bareknuckle C-pigs (the JC also has an irish tour single). I have to BRJ customs on order, both jekylls and the first should arrive within the fortnight (been waiting for 11 damn moths for the first one!)

4 cabs loaded with scumbacks

Is that my old black/cream port city 4x12? Damn i miss that cab.... it sounded amazing.

Sad but True...

My fav tone, after a few years of getting amps and guitars, funny enough, is a LP or Strat into my Zinky Velvet for class A power tube distortion. Covers Dire Straits, Skynyrd, early (good) ZZ Top, Rush, Zep, kick the OCD/AC Boost and it gets Priest, Hair Metal, etc.

FWIW, the rare times I do get to play out or go to jam sessions, the Zinky is the fav amp. But we usually don't jam any Pantera, so I must be playing with people that are too old.... or think they are too old....

Love my rigs. Best setups I've ever had and the most versatile. I can run w/d/w with 3 halfstacks or with a halftsack, another head and 2x12 cab and a 2x12 combo. Or go stereo with 2 halfstacks or a halfstack and 2x12 combo or a head and 2x12 cab and 2x12 combo or run those in a wet/dry setup. It's nice to have options.

I sold everything and stayed with a roland microcube and a Shamray guitar

But right now I'm building a new rig. Hopefully it will include a Diezel Herbert :D

Hell no

Currently just trying to make do with what I have.

Everything else has come, gone and I've gone back to my 'basic' Randall/M4 setup..with a handful of killer modules.

Yes, I'm happy.
