Joe Holmes Studio Pix....Farmikos

My main thing with digging Joe is how unbelievable his live tone was with Ozzy. It may not translate well on a youtube clip but his live tone was probably the best tone I ever heard. Also his treatment of the Rhoads stuff live with Ozzy gave me chills all night. Jake didn't do that, Zakk didn't do that. Joe just sounded like the guy who should have replaced Randy in Ozzy.

Other than that night, I watched Joe play in my store twice from about 10' away and he was monster both times through a little practice amp and a guitar off the rack. I saw him live a couple of times in the LA clubs and again, monster tone and cool lead style.

I LOVE the sounds you can get with H/S/S pickup configuration, but I HATE the way the middle pickup looks in the guitar when a humbucker is in there...I don't know why, but to me it looks stupid. I have a few Charvels that are Hum bridge neck single and that looks better to me, but I miss having the two singles on at once for rhythm sounds...

Yup! Best live tone I ever heard and off the charts playing. Closest heir to Randy by far...

Agreed. I have two like this.

Although, for some reason, I like Jake E. Lee's H/S/S layout a lot ! Go figure.

His sound is and playing are amazing. Reeeally making me want a PCM41. I love every Farmikos tune I've heard so far. Notice he doubles some of his solos ala Rhoads. He is a SICK lead player, just intense.

I too am a fan of the S/H setup...

He only uses the PCM 41 as a gain boost in the insert loop of his Jose modded Marshalls...

Are the channels run in parallel on Joe's Jose Marshalls ? So there's 2 channels on all the time with a pre (gain) control and a master volume for each of the two channels ? Does the insert loop go to one or both channels ? Thanks.

I've seen that before, it shows two loops...which one gets the PCM 41 ? Or does it not matter ? Thanks.

Are these Jose mod amps single channel or switchers?
Sorry for raising the dead but am considering modding a marshall.....
Thanks!

The only ones I ever saw, including the two I had Jose mod for me, were single channel with two input paths - one higher gain, one lower...

I seen Joe playing for Ozzy one tour... Good lord was it amazing!! It was a breath of fresh air not seeing Zakk in the ranks. This was around 1997.
