I understand people not liking Vernon's solo style but man the guy can write a good riff. Living Colour was one of the few bands from the 80's who's music was leagues above all the lame hair metal shit around it. Every guy in that band was great on their instrument and IMHO Glover has one of the best voices in rock.

I always liked Living Color but wondered what the hell happened with the solo's. I really don't buy the excuse that some use that he's improvising from an artistic point of view. To me, it sounds like he doesn't know how to play in key because it sounds like random drizzle that anyone can do. And what idiot would bring a Recto for a Hendrix tour?

Was everyone else playing cranked plexi's with fuzzes in front?

KWS is badass for sure. His latest album is really good, and he even sings about half the songs. Love his tone. Makes me wish I could get along with a single-coil in the bridge of a guitar...

You get the Vernon hate. Good you agree!  If you saw him trying to play Hendrix tunes with his horrid tone and mindless playing you'd be hatin on him as well.

Gotta disagree on the Vernon Reid thing. He is a big influence on my attitude towards "going for it" when it comes to trying new things to make a new sound.
I could see how one would think he was out of place in this Hendrix tribute, recto and all. But what is worse - trying to sound like Hendrix, or, bringing your own thing to what you do. Living Colour blew my mind on the first LalaPalooza (sp). They hit the stage with "Middle Man" and I was like, this is a killer grove, his Mesa's fit perfect, and his ratty tone (a compliment coming from me) sounded friggin pissed off. One can not argue that when you hear him, you have to say, Yep, that is Vernon.
