Yeah I have and I'm kind of jealous of their large families. If I had had better foresight I could have a small army living at home with me but I also don't want to be obligated to partake in every wal mart trip and quinceanara for the rest of my life either. I'd never get any guitar time in.

My ex wife was Mexican. Her family was unbelievably massive. And I always felt extremely out of place at any event they had. I was always dressed way too nice for the occasion. Long hair, nice button up shirt and jeans surrounded by cholos with XXXL shirts and long shorts lol.

My wife has cared for many high needs hispanic infants so I got to hear her stories about how all 8 people living at the house go to wal-mart, or else get excommunicated from la familia. I have had many good interactions with Texicans here. By and large they are great people but tbh I think my wife cooks better tacos than most of them.

What's funny is that I absolutely love Mexican food, while my ex wife disliked it a lot. Especially when it came to her mom's cooking. The ex had to make sure I knew how much she despised her mom's fidello lol.

I love those hispanc ladies who sell tacos and tamales out of a cart or car, those are usually the best kind, but am not generally much for enchiladas and such. Every churro I've had here was disgusting, yuck. What's weird is the only decent pizza joint I've found within 45 minutes of me that isn't priced through the roof is a hispanic owned joint. I went to a legendary pizza place in Chicago hoping to get the first righteous slice I've had in a decade and it sucked ass and was about 3x the money....

Here we have a "taqueria Jalisco" at every corner. Once they close then it's messican food trucks in every parking lot lol. Overall I'm a sucker for Mexican food and I especially love enchiladas. Problem is that Mexican food is some of the most unhealthy food you can eat. Which is why we have so many gordas and tortas here... these women are yuge....

I dig the traditional music. Especially the horns featured in conjunto and stuff although I could live without some of the casio keyboard sounds featured in more recent pop stuff getting airplay. I guess like a lot of old school blues, humble backgrounds limit the quality of the instruments put to use in some cases. Having recently started playing horn, I'm borderline obsessed with their trumpet players and some of the associated standards.
