Looking to buy first tube amp

MESA/Boogie Mark V25. Unlimited versatility. IMO the peavey shit is not as good as Boogie shit. You won't need a tone sucking decimater or EQ pedal either.

Resale is 100% when buying M/B used, unless you're like me and buy low, sell high on every M/B I've ever owned.

Can't say I agree on any point here, other than the Mark V 25 being versatile.

Most amps can be dialed in to be harsh, or muffled, or sound very good. Depends on the skill of the user, but the 5150 is THE metal amp of the last 25 years for a reason, they sound great in all situations.

Lots of great suggestions in here as well. EVH 5150 III 50, PRS MT15, Archon 50, Peavey XXX/JSX/Ultra, Laney Ironheart, Marshall DSL100H or JCM 2000 DSL are all great choices, all under $1k.

Were it me, I'd go 5150 III 50 watt on the used market for $500 or so.

Probably one of the better options out there. I keep in mind this is his first tube amp. It is nice to try different things. the rabbit hole is guaranteed to happen so this will not be his last amp. $500 5150 III is an excellent starting point.

I've got a US made Peavey Triple XXX for sale for $400.00. IMO they are a much better amp that the 5150/6505. PM me if interested.

I'd highly recommend the EVH 5150 III EL34 50 watt head used. Good clean channel, blue channel is great boosted and red is no boost needed just a noise gate.
