Looks like a Chinese fake to me - what do you think?

Price is way too high. Also for me when I bought my '73 LP custom, I liked that fact that it had some wear, it meant it had been played. Too pristine just makes me think that its not a great guitar.

Here is a picture of 2 '73 LP customs, one is mine, the other is a friends. They were made within about 12 weeks of each other if memory serves me right.

Ya gotta love those plain-top cherry bursts!

Is this a guitar you are going to buy? I always use the same rule when looking at an unknown history LP, I look it over very carefully (have seen a few LPs in my day) and if I find one thing I am uncertain about I just walk away from it, I saw that it came from Gary's so it should be legit, I looked over the photos and I would have the same questions as MO with that area where the headstock meets the neck, and actually if you look close at that area it looks like a repaired headstock there is a hint of a line underneath that.

A guy who just purchased a '68 LP Custom CA from me pointed the guitar out. He didn't see anything out of the ordinary at all. It was the headstock and the shape of the pickup covers that I thought looked a little "off" to me. I didn't mean to insult or insinuate - but IMO there's something weird looking about the guitar and OHSC. The heel area of the neck appears to be freshly sprayed with nitro to me - but it may in-fact be a mint '73. I am interested in the guitar, though the price would need to come down a bit.
