The Legendary Tones Hot Mod has become my starting point on old Marshalls because it lets you leave the amp gain lower to preserve tightness and clarity. Add the external boost of your choice to taste.

I have often done light boost from OD into 800 and then clean boost ( Koko in my case) before OD as a lead boost. An 800 becomes an amp with 3 voicings... "channel switching"

Recently I moved the OG Koko from before to after the OD and then use the clean boost to bump things up on an 800. Before or after both work well, but something about after has me at the moment. Probably just the new thing but I am digging the slight change.

A little dirtier and less volume boost right? I had it there for a while too.
