You guys convinced me, ill just wait and try to save for the multi watt that way I can try both and just keep what I prefer. And yeah, I have not been seeing many TOVs lately, specially in the condition mine is

Same here. Mine is literally mint and I would never want to get another, or at least drop the cash on another if it was.

If you are a 6L6 guy, I like the Sylvanias a lot. Expensive but not stupid.

I have a quad of Sylvania 387 tubes, but i'm not sure they are the correct range for a mesa. They are pulls from a vintage peavey.

Mine had the Sylvania when I got it. Then I pulled them out for my twin reverb and put something else in. Then the =C=

I've had my Tremoverb about 26 years. One of the bands I was working with a few years ago the other guitar player bought a Multi-Watt. Nice amp but would never sell my Tremoverb to get one. As mentioned above not all Tremoverb sound the same. I had 3 Tremoverb in a room. Mine sounded considerably better. I was surprised how different they sounded. I have played on at least 50 Rectifiers. None of them sounded better than mine to me. Personally I think it comes down to individual amps more than certain models.

If you want a Recto that's tight w/o a boost, really your only / best two options are a Triple F or a Triple MW. Those are the only two I still own, for that reason. It's not about the volume, it's about the balls & tightness.

Also consider ToVs had the LDR problems & it's wise to have Mike B. service them.

I had a 94 Trem-o-verb once. Put Siemens el34 tubes in it. Loved that amp! Well I let my brother borrow it and he sold it from under me. That Brother Fucker!! He saved himself a beating by having the good sense to keep my red croc shell and put it back in the og black/tan shell. Oh well.

#R-1035 I’m sorry it wasn’t my fault. Come back to me.

P.S. I love my brother, he is a good egg.

If my brother sold one of my amps like that, I would put him in a figure 4 leg lock that he would never escape from.

I have always wanted a tremo verb and got very close a dew times. Have owned a Roadster for the past 6 years. It was my first nice amp to buy, and am in the process of trading it for something else.. The clips of the new multi watts sound great. But oddly the most intriguing thing to me about the TOV is the Blues voicing. I will likely never own a real one though as I am a converted Mark series fanatic now and want to start a collection of those. However, I am planning to trade in my Axe Fx III for a Neural Quad Cortex once they are available and a free benefit of it is it is supposed to have a full TOV model in it!

Also, i assume I am not the only one who originally took notice of the TOV because of Mike from Incubus. Thing is his were apparently molded, and I was always a bit skeptical I could get close to that tone, which was an inspiration of mine for a long time.

I have been thinking about the multi watts...
Listen to this and decide for yourself (that's a triple multiwatt)

I've been told that some of the early combos with the big "Mesa" logo were Fs. I'm watching now!

To add my voice to the choir - I have a '92 Trem-o-verb, it's a great amp but I've recorded comparisons to a friend's multi-watt and thought his is just as great sounding and more flexible. Honestly, the difference between them was negligible for almost all purposes.

This conversation is giving me GAS for a Trem-O-Verb or MW Recto.

TBH I've never tried a MW Recto but the Trem-O-Verb is one of the few amps I miss and wish I'd never gotten rid of. Bought it on eBay and it arrived terribly damaged. Shattered tubes, broken headshell, etc. Ended up having to get a new headshell from Mesa (they don't make the ToV shell anymore, though, so the only think that would fit was the RK shell, which was a bummer).

FWIW, TO ME, the Trem-O-Verb smoked the Roadster I had, particularly on the cleans. There was just something special about the Trem-O-Verb cleans.

I may need to try a Roadster with EL34's though. I think that makes a huge difference in Recto tones (for what I like out of Rectos, at least... which is heavily influenced by Soundgarden).

i have played both and would have the multiwatt over the tremoverb. both great amps but the tremoverbs had the ldr issue and could die on you at any point. not worth the risk. I discovered that if you take the tube covers off any recto, including the back power tube grills, they all sound very similar. The differences are not worth the hassle of picking on over the other. I assuming you put the same tubes on both amps. I also concur with getting a triple over a dual, but they both sound great. the ibanez ts9 is the best boost to my ear for the rectos.

You're saying taking tube covers off and the back grill changes the tone of the amp ? Can you explain your experience more Ive never heard this , I did a double take reading what you said .

I am saying exactly that, yes. try it yourself and you shall see. play with it on and then take it off and play. also the tube covers for the preamp tubes. those to me makes the most difference. but they both make a difference. try it

I totally agree about the Tverb and the LDR issues. I bought one that had them and it sounded like hot dogshit. I sent it back. Totally turned me off. Never again...
