I wouldn't argue with you one bit. I took a listen and thought it was kickass, but personally, I don't care enough about Metallica to invest much more thought in it. Never a Kirk fan, never cared much about the lyrics in their songs... I much prefer Megadeth...JamesPeters":3kq799ff said:sah5150":3kq799ff said:I think it killed, personally... I also think that if this was '84-'88 EVERYONE would be worshipping it...

I'm generally in agreement with you. I'm not quite as enthusiastic as you about it for these two reasons:
-solo wasn't Kirk's best (but I admit, it's really refreshing to not hear a wah for once!)
-some of the lyrics are really cheesy
I won't say the mix is bad or the guitar sound is no good or whatever. I also won't say the vocal style is terrible and so on.
I do hope the rest of the album is at least this good. It'd be a shame if this were the "stand-out" song.
And I'll go so far as to say a lot of the black album love-it-or-hate-it talk wouldn't exist if *this* were what they did on the black album, especially with all the talk of "returning to their roots" at the time (which they clearly did not).
