Most off-topic post in the history of Rig-Talk:
OK, all this talk about it's the driver, not the car is a horrible analogy. I road race cars for a hobby. My buddy in the blue and orange car (in my rear view mirror) is a 5 time class champion and a 10 year veteran instructor for the Porsche Club of America. Over the past 10 years he has beaten me probably 60 times and I have beaten him three times. This was when our cars were equal. I decided to upgrade my cams and bump up my compression. This video was our 2nd practice session of the day. In the first I realized that my car was now way faster than his. So in the 2nd session I decided to record a video of how easily I could pull away from him. Corner after corner I let him catch up and then immediately pulled away from him. It pissed him off so much he spent $3500 on his car the week after this event
As is typical in race car footage, the cars never seem like they are really going that fast. I shift into 3rd at 68mph, 4th at 99 and 5th at 122mph. We're never below 50 mph on this track even though it looks like I'm doing about 25mph in the corners.
What's this prove? It's the car.
